Future at Runningback

I think Chuba actually would be a mid tier starter, good enough with a solid line (which it looks like we have) and won’t be expensive on his second contract unless he has a really breakout year this year, but either way I’m down for the “draft a RB in the 4-6 range every year” strategy that others have mentioned. Mostly throwaway picks anyway and could always get lucky.

Running backs are easy to get. Not a huge priority anymore

Yeah, because you can get them in the mid to late rounds of the draft.  Not sign Miles Sanders types.  But you got to actually draft them.

Had this conversation today at work saying we were missing the Williams/Stewart combo!! I like Hubbard need to find his helper cuz Sanders wasn’t it!!

Another reason this franchise has been a complete failure while other teams excel is our inability to draft premier running backs anywhere except the first round. D Williams, Stewart, cmc all first round picks. Chubba took 3 years to finally produce and as soon as he potentially cements himself as a starter he will need to be paid

meanwhile teams draft similar production like kamara, hunt, ekeler, aaron jones, breece hall, etc with mid round picks.

we need a running back to produce immediately on a rookie contract. That is success in todays nfl

What? Need to be paid? Sorry man, Hubbard is one of the worst starting RBs in the league. You don’t pay him. You sign him to the vet minimum. He was 9th in the league in carries, but he was 20th in yards. Finding a 3.8 ypc RB is easy, it’s not something you need to pay.

He looked good because he was actually giving us effort last year and the rest of the offense minus Theilin was awful.
