Sanders. That guy is spilt milk already. Not much you can undo. They do have the OL upgraded closer to what he had before and even an idiot can run through a wide open hole.

He tries to avoid that but a threat of being unjobbed might redirect him a little.

I was initially on the get rid of Sanders train but I've been convinced to eat the poo sandwich that Fitt gave us.

Monetarily it makes no sense to get rid of him, he has experience, and his replacement is coming off a significant knee injury so we can ease him back without urgency so he can get completely healthy.

On top of that, RBs get hurt all the time so it doesn't hurt to have Sanders in case Chuba goes down before Brooks is ready.

I'm not even sure with the guard upgrades and the question at C that we'll even be some kinda zone scheme juggernaut. I still think we fuged up going away from the power run game that worked with Wilks for no reason other than coaching hubris

From what I've read from Colts fans, Zone blocking isn't bad, but Frank's version is overly complicated and hard on lineman. I think it will be better by default, but can't say definitely how much.

Certainly can't get much worse.

yeah I don't mind the line pushing left or right as a whole unit, we were just having guys go all in different directions it was really confusing. At the end of the day it's one unit that should all be on the same page for the play design. It's like tug of war and if two guys aren't doing their job the whole thing is fuged

I wasn’t looking for a RB, but Brooks is really really good, he is a complete back, he can run, catch and pass block. He is heads and shoulders above our current guys. He’s also close to 220 lbs., so he’s not a small guy

Not to mention only ~235 carries in college total so he's got a lot of miles on the horizon.

it makes no sense to trade sanders, but makes even less sense to play him. He deserves to be cut. He cannot pass block or break a tackle. Massive -WAR

the only good play he made all year was lining Bryce up correctly when he under guard. Pop Warner backfield

My favorite thing about him is he can catch. He has great hands.

He doesn't fumble the ball either. In fact when he gets into crowded territory you see him instinctually wrap the ball up with both arms.

I watched every carry and target he had in college and I swear I only saw one fumble and I couldn't tell what happened on that one, looked like someone's helmet hit it. But people were constantly punching at the ball while he carried it and they were having no success.

If Brooks' knee(s) hold out, he'll probably be the star of this draft class for the Panthers.

And to think he'll be competing with a receiving TE who when given good QB play should put up pro bowl numbers I'm glad we have a chance to have multiple stars from the same draft.

Sanders was a 5 yds per carry career guy over 4 seasons until he came to this dumpster fire of coaching and OL injuries.

It's not insane to think he could be more productive in a new system behind a bolstered interior line. Cutting him helps nothing.

The very best scenario is to give him the ball and if he looks good hope for a mid season trade for something while Brooks gets back to 100%. Such as a serious contender responding to injuries needing vet help. (Chiefs, etc)

    • It’s like being on the Flyers broadcast team feed so far
    • Boy the flyers look good early. Lots of bad plays and slow start by our team. Hope that changes before the score changes.
    • I guess I should have stipulated outside the sacred cow.   I complained from year one that Bryce should compete for and win the starting job on his own merit but no he was just handed it. I have been right there with everyone that wants competition.  But I don’t really have a huge problem with it for this season the way it has gone because where are the viable people we don’t have to trade for? I actually am okay with tiny hands Pickett because he is so close to Bryce arm strength wise and to be honest, skill wise. Probably. And it is only a one year deal.  That also takes into account that the QB class is looking stacked next year and if Young fails miserably then we get either a reset or a real competition and there will be more guys that I would like looking at in the FA QB class next year as well.    I sort of accept where we are this year and look at it as another treading water year (at QB). I just want to get to next year with some clarity. More than anything. And they did empty out the room (behind him anyway). Again, who was really there for us?  And I know it would not be a true competition at this point anyway. They are giving him the year, like it or not.    Also I don’t give a poo about winning games IF he sucks and or goes down after sucking because draft position and that stacked QB class.  And I want out from under him So Bad.     So I guess it is several factors that lessen my anxiety over his backup this particular season.    I am not trying to convince anyone, but you asked. That’s how I look at it.
