It could be because no coach the proceed Ron featured a TE. That's the reality of it.

...yea...  limiting the offence.... need to use all weapons available and incorporate that into an attack...not sure why a coach would ignore that facet ...but Thomas...lol..maybe thats why.   total waste of a roster spot..

I cannot explain why Ian is still here. We here at the huddle have debated that for years now.  We still haven't figured that out.

Didn’t know that much about him, but some of his highlights are pretty darn impressive. I feel really good about our additions to WR, RB (we got an elite talent) and TE. Still very doubtful about Bryce, but I’m excited to see what our offense can do this year.

We knew why Brenton was here. He mowed Jerry's grass. Ian is a complete mystery.

He's worthy of being on the roster for the grunt work but not at his salary. Ideally he would stay at greatly reduced salary.

Unfortunately TEs are either receivers or blockers. I heard it said Gronk was last true TE

If grunt work is whiffing on blocks then he is earning his money. He's basically a 6th lineman. Blocking in space is not his thing.

    • The panthers are such a trash organization at this point that all the huddle can do is argue about which panthers team is historically the worst…good times.
    • Well, hope they're not worried about a torn Labrum or Rotator Cuff, as someone who went through that myself, I know those don't have anything show up on X-Rays but from the MRI, so this is kinda a nothing update, hope it's not a tear or his season is already over if they decide to do surgery now. Which is basically what would be needed to get him to 100% for the start of next season's training camp if it's a labrum.  If he plays the season with it and then does surgery, he's not going to be ready for camp and probably not the start of the season either.
    • I always try to not pay much attention to a team’s preseason win/loss record. The 1982 Washington and 2021 LA Rams both lost every game in the preseason and went on to win the Super Bowl, whereas the 2008 Detroit Lions and 2017 Cleveland Browns both won every game in reason and went on to lose every regular season game. There’s many examples of teams that lose in preseason that go on to have good seasons, but equally there are teams that lose in preseason and that continues in the regular season. Which will we be?  I think our floor is a handful of wins, while our ceiling will probably be around the 9-10 win mark. The latter will require significant improvement from the whole team and coaching staff, and will also need Bryce to play like the QB we drafted him to be. I want to be optimistic and predict a winning season, but it’s really difficult as a Panthers fan!
