I’ll give him credit for Robert Hunt and Damien Lewis as the early returns on these signings look good

However, besides those two it was a lot more of the same crap we’ve seen in recent years which should come as no surprise since Dan was here for that mess

His solution to the WR problem: trade for a WR2 and claim he’s a WR1

his solution to the edge problem: Sign DJ Wonnum and Clowney. Luckily Wonnum can be cut after this year to save 7.5 million in cap space.

Then in full Marty Hurney style, Dan spent a 2nd round pick on a running back coming off an ACL injury when we had much bigger needs that this draft class meshed well with.

Continuing the Hurney trend, Dan went out and signed Josey Jewell to an awful contract that makes it impossible to cut him until 2026. Unless they want to eat 6.6 million in dead cap while saving less than 1 million in cap. Dan then spent a 3rd round pick on a linebacker. Dan also spent a 7th round pick on a linebacker as well. Not only does the Jewell contract eat up cap but it keeps our 3rd rounder on the bench.

It’s only been 2 games and Brooks wasn’t expected to play but on Sunday we got a combined 19 snaps from our draft picks in rounds 1-3 on a roster that needed starters so badly.

This defense was never going to be good this year but spending money we absolutely did not have just kicked the can down the road for another season. These useless signings forced a restructure of another terrible contract in Shy Tuttle.

So on top of having a brain dead owner we have another clueless GM…

Fun times

I'm not sure going out and buying the most expensive OGs at top market prices was the best move. Especially if your QB doesn't play in the pocket and a HC that doesn't run enough.

Some of the hype has already popped from his moves for sure.

yeah, massive OGs that Bryce can't sit behind and throw.....isn't going to work.  The ONLY possible O for Bryce Young is a Bryce Young creation.  He can't sit in a NFL pocket because he can't see.  It has to be quick small ball and moving him consistently out of the pocket.

I don't think it exists in the NFL. I think you put him at Miami and it's a spread offense where he gets the ball off too slow and even with that speed it's 2 yard gains.

Bryce is a unicorn.  A unicorn O is the only thing that would work.

to me, Dan Morgan really was putting together the foundation for a 2003 John Fox football team.  Canales fits that in reality.  Run the ball, chuck it deep downfield.  Bryce Young can't do that lol

Still early to accurately evaluate Dan because the offense has been hindered by Bryce. Because the offense has been trash it has a direct impact on the defense. I’ll reserve judgment until later. Dan deserves more than 2 games.

Unicorn kind of implies there's something magical that comes along with the uniqueness.  I know what you mean but there's gotta be a better word here lol.

It looks like Caroll's to me. Smart enough to know they need to run but not smart enough to run when they need to do so. It's the 2016 SB failure in a nutshell. It's more updated than Fox ball but it also not new or innovative.

If they were building an O for Bryce, it would have focused on WRs who are great at scramble drills. Our WRs don't even know what a scramble drill is, on at least one of his sacks this Sunday he had left the pocket to try to create something and the WRs never even looked back at him and just continued their routes.

    • This is from 5 months ago. It was one or the other. Trade for one or draft one. We apparently called the Jets about Wilson. We also talked to the Seahawks about Metcalf. Drafting our own guy was the best course of action given the required investment. Regardless now is the time for Bryce Young to produce. We are fourth amongst all teams in cap spending on the OL. Back to back first round picks at WR and multiple young TE draft picks now. Very solid and respectable backfield. New pieces across the defense. The time is now.
    • That was just the worst time to have their worst game of the season. One key deal was the broncos guess the Panthers would NOT change any plays or flow to the game. Another key point overlook that bronco defense was truly one of the best in the NFL history. It was the best defense the Panthers faced that year, by far. They were not ready for it, but broncos were ready for the Panthers. Mix in that bad luck, poor refs showcase, and this is the golden boys last game........ Panthers needed to win by 20 and the broncos defense was not going to allow that.  Panthers were the faviotes and I believe they also thought that it was going to easier than them destorying NFC playoff teams as they marched to the SB. I've heard darin Gantt say the play calls were to give remmers help, but for some reason the team never did it. During the year they never had that problem, so maybe never practiced giving help via TE/RB, or WR chip. Cam was superman that year, no need for any adjustments...... Until you meet a legendary defense with studs at all levels, Think about it, Peyton was throwing wingless dunks for the whole season, the defense had to carry his corpse to the SB. That's how good they were, no many defense are able to get to the playoffs and win a SB without decent QB play. If you recall the beginning of that denfese took Tim Teblows and his non-throwing arse to the playoffs couple years before. That's insane the level of defense needed to overcome.
    • Who cares if he paid for such small benefits out of his own pocket? The NCAA is a joke. They need to be offering such anyway, especially for Uber rides (which actually seems like a good idea).
