What Do You Think About Our Rookies Thus Far?

Honestly, this is probably our most promising rookie class through 6 weeks in years.

That's not to say they've been incredible or anything, but there have been several regular contributors from the rookie class and we still have Jonathon Brooks to come who could be the best of the bunch.

Low bar, yes, but I certainly prefer where this year's rookies are compared to the last several classes.

I'm not sold on Wallace, he doesn't shed blocks very well. I'd bet those tackles are trailing type tackles. RBs 8 yards downfield type of stuff.

I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt because they have put so much on his plate, he isn't able to just play and worry about his assignments, he has to worry with all that other stuff too.

But he better work hard to get his strength built up in the offseason.

Fair point but when your D-linemen are getting destroyed at least he's making the tackle.

They aren't keeping guys off of him, I will agree with that. I am not trying to trash him at all. I think he has the ceiling for more than we've seen.

I just don't see what I was hoping to see. I rewatched some stuff and he was just losing his battles. But I also said the circumstances are bad too. The guy is a 3rd rounder being thrown into the hottest part of the fire after, what, 4 games?

I hope he'll be like a lot of guys, that 1st season and offseason has him coming back more ready to compete and win.

XL - We shouldn't have traded up. He looks OK and what DC likes. Overhyped by college fans. Body catches are some BS and need to stop.

Brooks - Massive mistake. Even if he becomes a good player it was a terrible pick. Guys picked behind him that already make him look like a worse pick.

Wallace - I like his attitude. I'm still not sure if he is going to be good or just good enough.

Sanders - A project getting better reps with Thomas out there being ass which is ironic and funny to me. Has lots of work left but has upside.

The rest are non-existent so far. I had to look up their names to see who we even picked later in the draft because I tuned out after round 2.

XL is gonna be fine.  Wallace could be special if we can get some decent line play.  2 solid starters would make this a rare draft class for us.

Brooks and Sanders have a chance to make this class an all-timer.  Toss in Coker and it’d be something we’ve never seen before.

5 legitimate contributors from a single draft?  Unheard of in Panther-land.

Looks like we got a few decent starters. Not sure any of these guys are going to be high end elite players though. So, it's looking like an alright draft but nothing special.

I agree with the sentiment but given our recent draft history, an alright draft is something special for this team

We've played 6 games, so about 35% of the season has passed already.

I know it's early but this class already looks more promising than 2023, which might have been the worst draft in panthers franchise history.

Legette looks pretty good, he looks explosive. Maybe he hasn't gotten huge bombs yet but he's demonstrated that he's strong and fast with the ball and is a nice red zone target. He's probably gonna get something like 500 yards 5 or 6 TDs by seasons end, which is pretty decent for a rookie WR on a bad team.  He's basically what the Panthers thought Mingo would be last year.

Brooks obviously hasn't played but he could turn this rookie class into a slam dunk if he's good. I'd expect him to get sprinkled in to the later half of the year, but don't expect him to get a ton of carries with Chubba running so well and Canales apparent aversion for running the ball.

Wallace has been a pleasant surprise. I haven't been watching him super closely, but I like his tackling ability and high motor.

JT Sanders has been okay ish.

Not so sure about Smith Wade or Crumedy. I know Barrett was traded to Seattle.  We very very rarely hit on 4th  to 7th rounders historically.  So even getting a solid role player out of any of these dudes would be a huge win.

Weird previous post but a good OP to continue...

XL: Man this guy has promise. Right now he reminds me of Kelvin Benjamin... big, strong (XL is faster) but the traits to be a good WR.. he just needs to put it together. Im keeping hope that he does. He doesnt seem to be lazy... just needs to be coached up.

Brooks: Man this breaks my heart.. I was excited to see him enter the lineup. Our team is built to be a power running team and he would be a great addition.. but right now the future is in question.

Wallace: .... probably one of the players Im most excited about. I know that people didnt like the pick but I thought if anyone could pick a LB it would be Morgan.. I think Wallace will be a foundation of the team soon.

JT Sanders: Hes exciting.. would like to see him more.

XL - Looks the part and clearly worked on his route running during the offseason. Excited to see how he looks next season after an offseason working the JUGS machine

JB - Heartbroken for the dude, but he looked like he belonged when he was on the field. Fingers crossed that the team errs on the side of caution again in brining him back incredibly slow

Wallace - DAWG

JT - DAWG

Chau - Rookie got himself a pick and is getting time inside/outside as well as on ST

Crumedy - TBD

Coker - DAWG

Richardson - DAWG

I myself am rarely interested in such sports, so I can't say for sure, because all the guys are good. Lately I've become interested in fights that took place in the past, in very old times. When people fought on swords and in armor find here neck armor . But now there are few such fights, personally in my city they are not and where they are held I do not know, but I want to participate very much because it is my longtime dream.

    • You are right--it was DC.  I remember talking to him at Belk in Albemarle one day--the Panthers were on a bye and they were (at the time) a disapointing 4-4.  I mentioned that the record was disappointing and he seemed to get a bit annoyed.  He dId not say anything.  I trying to suggest that we will get better, but I think he was pretty upset about it.  No hard feelings, but the man was simply trying to shop with his wife and this annoying jerk starts making comments about his job---I get it.  I apologized, telling him that I was trying to be supportive and not critical--he did not think it was a big deal.  I'd see him at events from time to time-he'd wave or say hi, but it was awkward for me.  Figured I would say something stupid.  Jordan was pretty popular--nothing like she seems to be now--she is holding her own in a man's world...proud of her.
    • Like we have had the last 3 years.
    • In May of 2026, it looks like a challenging schedule...and it probably is.  I rarely listen to the "strength of schedule" conversations that light up social media this time of year. Each year teams improve and decline. I think there's chunks of the year we need to take care of business and the week 5 bye is not desired.  I do think if we don't hit the bye week at 3-1, it's going to be a major uphill battle given the schedule in front of us. This season falls on three people, regardless of schedule strength: Canales, Bryce, Evero.  Canales: Finally can truly coach all aspects of the team and not focus with gameday prep for OC duties anymore. He drives the bus and needs to get these guys in position to win each week. There's no way vets come in and put it on the line every week to watch our QB sh!t the bed (See: SF game last year). Bryce: Despite everyone's obsession with thinking Bryce is a guaranteed extension, I think this year will truly be his "prove it" year. If he comes out the way he has the past three years, I really don't see how vets and coaches can continue to put him under center long-term. He might play out that fifth year as the starter, but I think next offseason his long-term replacement is found. I also think there's no excuses with the weapons and commitment we've made on offense to insulate him with every possible weapon.  Evero: Best personnel he's had since he's been here...no excuses. Figure out how to blitz effectively. Figure out how to use CBs whose strengths are press/man. Figure out how to utilize a talented front-7 to get the hell of the field. Outside of FS and maybe....maybe ILB, there are few weaknesses on this unit.
