they leak this every time they give a player away for nothing

there’s a reason for it: when you foster an identity as a soft negotiating team it makes it harder and harder to dig your heels in.

they just keep giving in though.

I'm over Morgan. The only good thing he has done is the Jackson trade. Paying a RB and CB given the state of the team is just the wrong move and this is the last chance at much value. Hell their still paying his Sanders mistake while Brooks is still not ready. The team isn't going to win anything so why not hit the reset on the rookie contracts and actually stop with the poorly conceived retools. This last one really stunk.

Fixed the OL.

We don't know they are paying Chuba. We do know that there is a need for RB because we aren't a passing team, or we are diminished now in that regard.

And we have not seen Brooks.

Maybe they are trading Sanders instead. I would be. At least trying to trade him.

This core of less than mediocrity cannot be bought!!

Oh, but who is the next polite, historically undersized QB who has less than average atlecticism, transferable NFL skills that scouts will code as "anticipation"?

Look I am not an NFL scout or a douchey owner of a team but if If his comp of the next top pick  is a point guard and not a QB.... I am ALL IN!

For me, the super bowl is botching the #1 pick when it is obvious in real time that the odds are against it work to an average outcome...the only way to mentally cope with the Tepper era.

Yes overspending on talent for 1 win. That's not impressive to me. Given the limits it put on everything else it's not a win in my eyes. Also looking like Moton might be done at those prices with Ickey coming up for his contract next, who is really should be an OG. Seems more like an expensive patch and less like a fix.

I know. With a solid off-season and a good draft this team could actually be good next season. We just need to finally solve the QB position and fix the defense. Which feels like a monumental task.

They could be massively improved, but there is no way to fix that defense in one year, so 'good' I am not so sure about.

But yeah they could be much better with competent QB play on offense.

I see too many holes still on offense and it worries me for the defense because you can see where the priorities lie.

No to RB. You can literally pick a good one up when you need it. Just look at Philly and Baltimore. The 49ers rented the best one and effectively replaced him already with an UDFA from 2022. I like Hubbard but we should be selling.

    • Basically agree.  He is the one of that bunch that offers upgraded pass catching along with he is supposed to be kind of special.   Then you have the OL and the ideas that if they perform you can have JAG backs and still do well. So okay we could be fine.  But Brooks is important and to me that receiving element sets him apart.  So there sure is something riding on him.     What strikes me as incongruent is people over in Atlanta or those that follow them look at Penix with a third surgery and act like it is no big deal.      And we are on pins and needles over Brooks.  Either they should worry a lot more or we should worry a lot less.
    • I usually go a game or two optimist over the consensus here but this is too early for me to say. I need to see some players on the field.  I am not feeling real optimistic though.
    • Okay as a ‘take CJ’ fan I actually don’t obsess over CJ and Houston, contrary to the narrative.  But I thought I picked up some noise that his OL left a lot to be desired.    Not a single Beyce supporter would judge him harshly if he had a crappy OL. We all know that.    So be fair about it.  A QB needs to be protected.  Especially a guy that gets to his spot and wants to finish the play from there. Which CJ is.
