Our number 1 receiver missed 7 games. The only other currently good WR hasn't played a lot either cause he was undrafted and had to gain his snaps. He has also missed the past 3 games...

Don't evaluate stats that consider the full season. See the progression we've made instead.

Stats aside, it's all about the eye test for me. These last 3 weeks I've seen a franchise QB. If not for a botched snap and a egregious drop, we probably beat the two best teams in the NFL. Both times driving his team down the field to win the game. He's escaping the pocket more, making plays with his feet, making good NFL throws (still want to see his deep ball get better), reading the defense better, etc. I mean, just turn on his film from earlier in the year to now.......it is night and day.

Now, I have to see it for the remainder of the year before I jump on the bandwagon. But if you're still trying to downplay Bryce after what we've seen the last month, then you really do just want to see him fail.

Top team is less than 100 ahead of bottom and has a similar record. This year hasn't been about how many yards you throw for...it's about making the plays when they need/have to be made, and recently we've made a lot more of them then we were. I think that's where the confidence is coming from. You can see it on the TV screen, just not in the W/L column. I don't think anyone who is still grounded in reality is expecting us to be 13-4 next year but I think a winning record is on the table. We got a lot of dudes who are still learning how to play NFL football and how to make game winning plays...it's a talent. That's why the best teams consistently do it.

As a huge Bryce critic I have become cautiously optimistic. The biggest takeaway I’ve had from the past few games is he is starting to make some of the off script plays that he wowed everyone with at Alabama. When he attempted that kind of stuff last year it usually ended horrendously.

I am hoping he continues his upwards trajectory and we are able to put together a competitive team around him in the next year or 2 before we have to decide whether to pay Bryce the big bucks or not.

      Hard to pass up millions for a couple of days work per week for a coaching gig in the NFL that is 60-80 hours each week during the season and a more relaxed 50 hours a week during the off season. Yeah, I'd love to see him as our DC but hard to see him giving up the cushy job there if he gets it. And he's going to be a great commentator for the network.

      Really, I think that is where negotiations come in. If you've got a QB getting you to 10 wins but statistically he's not a great performer, then you say look you can take $22 million or you can try it on the market. Because let's face it, out there, any leadership skills that we're seeing aren't going to be on the table, it's just going to be performance and that lands him in the QB2 market, which is much, much less lucrative (although any of us would love that money).  No one is saying that Bryce will be a $50 million QB, barring something short of a miraculous jump. I'm just saying that if we are winning somehow with him at the helm, then it would be fuging stupid to dive back into the rookie pool all over again. Let's say we do hit the 10 win mark, heck, let's call it 11 and a second round in the playoffs. I think we can all say that would be a really uplifting result and one that should be doable if we have good play. What do we do then? Here's what I would offer if I were Morgan and Tepper. $25 million a year for 3 years, each year with up to $10 million in incentives for touchdowns, wins, playoff depth, being under 10 interceptions, completing a full season, passing yardage milestones, taking less than 15 sacks. Look, Bryce isn't a Ferrari, he isn't a Corvette, or a mid-level BMW. He's probably a new Toyota Sienna that will definitely get you somewhere and bring the whole team along with it, no fuss but not a lot of pizazz.  And really, it's about the destination, not about what drove you there.
