Bryce May Not Be the Answer

Indeed. It's very simple. If the draft plays out where the Panthers are up next and one of the top QB's are available Dan Morgan and Dave Canales cannot afford to say no thanks. It does not matter how Bryce Young plays over the next 3 games or what he did over the last few. The broader body of work is there for anyone to see.

You assume they will evaluate them as being franchise worthy QBs just because they’re top of their class.  They won’t draft one just to compete with Bryce. If they do draft in first round then Bryce will be traded.

I'm not assuming any of those things. What I am assuming is that Dan and Dave both have the basic awareness to know they cannot just stroll into next season at QB the same way they did this year if they value their jobs.

I guess time will tell if your assumption is right or will you declare them incompetent if they don’t see it your way

I don't either because I don't think he'll be there.

There are only two QBs worthy of a top 10 pick with the top two needy teams conveniently sitting at #1 and #2 in the draft order--Giants and Raiders.

It ain't happening. Those teams are tanking and we will probably squeeze out at least one more win.  We also hold the tie breaker over both of those two teams if somehow we end up with the same record.  The Giants have a fairly tough last 3 games.  The Raiders would have a couple of winnable ones, but I think they still tank it.

I mean, I don't remember too many people saying "Bryce is the answer," with their chest. He's still shaky, and in fact no one can say with surety that either Dave Canales, Dan Morgan or David Tepper are sold on Young. Hell, who here has said they're sold on him?

We need to bring in legit competition for him. The only question is how high that draft pick is going to be. Everything is on the table.

I still think there's a high likelihood Bryce is starting week 1 next year, even if his next few games have similar downs.

But, this is the the type of draft where we absolutely should consider a low-risk pick at QB (after R1) to see how he stacks up.  He could be a pressure backup to Bryce instead of a vet.  And if Bryce implodes, you transition to that rookie, see if he's worth anything, and if not, onto a high drafted QB in 2026.

I would not use the word incompetent. If they make no significant effort to revamp the QB room I would consider it negligence. And it's their jobs on the line not ours.

I am really liking McCord on day 3.  How about you?  Rouke, Leonard and Howard would be okay late flier picks too.  Again, McCord is my favorite of the bunch though.

    • I think i like the Oregon Safety better
    • Do you see the vision?  As of now our Carolina Panthers don’t have an identity. We are not an offensive powerhouse and on defense we only started getting it together towards the end of the year last year. In my opinion we are much closer to having an incredible defense that scares the daylights out of people. I say the answer is simple and we fully commit to that possible identity.    Emmanuel McNeil Warren (E man)  This guy is like a shark lurking around ready to attack anyone. Fearless. He is easily a top 20 talent in my eyes, and the only reason he isn’t more talked about is because he’s from Toledo. Do your due diligence as panther fans and watch his tape I beg you. Once you’re done watching let me ask you this, if you dropped E - Man into the strong safety spot on the Buckeyes, he isn’t being talked about as one of the best prospects we’ve seen in some time given the skill set you see with this guy? I think so. Put his name on the card and turn it in at 19.    Jacob Rodriguez  High effort, High energy, High IQ guy that flies around the field. We all know Jacob at this point. My only concern is he’s a little bit too good and I’m not sure he makes it to us at our pick in the second. With the additions of Jacob and E- Man I think our defense goes to top 5 in the league. We would have a duo of linebackers that rival anything we’ve had in our past. I’m not a GM so I don’t know what the possible answer could be, but if there’s a way we can comfortably trade up in the second to secure this guy I think we find a way to do it.    Spend the rest of our picks fixing the O - line.    Thoughts Panthers fans? Who’s the ideal duo for yall?
    • OL is arguably much more important to the success of a young QB. (Or any QB)
