We have a franchise QB

Has Matt Flynn played this well for multiple games?

How good was Drew Brees, Josh Allen, Jalen Hurts, Matt Stafford during their second season? Truth is Bryce played better than them. Very rarely does a 2nd year qb put up top 5-10 stats. Let us be happy we have hope for the future.

Your last sentence is completely disingenuous. Having an alternate viewpoint is not attempting to 'prevent you from being happy'. Bryce needs a larger body of work for a definitive assessment either way, full stop, and discussing it all around is completely fair. Deal with it.

Anyone who is denying the improvement and transformation of Bryce Young has an axe to grind.

I was a giant Bryce hater and thought he was a wasted pick midway through last season.

I can't be any more glad I was flat out wrong. We may finally have the QB position set. It's so much easier to build a playoff caliber team when you have a franchise QB.

I wish there was a way to see what all these posters who are excited about this win (and the Cardinals win) were saying 3-4 years ago when we were winning those meaningless late season games.

I'll bet they were saying the same thing, "this is how you build a culture" and "it's going to carry over into next year" and "blah blah blah"

That to me is why I don't understand all the hate I get for taking this stance, it's not like we're some new franchise that has never gone through this before.  We've been doing it for YEARS, we win these meaningless late season games, a group of fans think it's the start of a turnaround of the franchise, but all it does is hurt our ability to draft better players and we rinse and repeat the next year.

I don't take joy in saying this stuff, but I just call it like I see it.

Yes, Bryce played better the last 2 months, but there are still at least 20 QB's that I'd take over him in a heartbeat right now.  You're not going to ever contend in today's NFL with a QB who is outside the Top 20 in the league, it's just the way the game is played these days.

Getting excited about possible mediocrity just because we've been garbage for so long is now how you build a winning franchise, it's how you get stuck in NFL purgatory, and I'm sick of being stuck there.

Except the difference this year is we are beating teams with something to play for...

Bryce finished the year basically being good then bad then good then bad each week.

Stafford was injured year 2.  Stafford was a monster year 3.  5k passer with 40 TDs.  Allen and Hurts were post season year 2 accounting for more offense per game.   Not sure what the argument he was better than them is rooted in.

Brees year 2 was basically a different league/rules so that comp gets a little weird.

Being a team with something to play for doesn't make them a good team.

Neither of those teams would have even had something to play for if their divisions were better this season.  Both the Cardinals and Falcons should have realistically been out of the hunt a few weeks earlier than they were, but their weak divisions kept them in it.

I hated the pick and proceeded to make fun of him and naysay him up until his benching this season. And with that I thought things were done and done.

And I ended up being proved so incredibly wrong.

The kid is The Kid. He found the It he needed and he's taken the lead in the team, ownership of the games and made a believer out of me.

Can't wait to see him grow even more next season. Young and Pennix are going to be trouble for the rest of the NFCSouth for the next five to seven years.

Now, about that defense...

Name the 20 QBs you’d take over Bryce to build the future of the franchise with.

Moving goalposts. Did Hurts and Allen have the all time worst defense? Bryce stats would look even better if the defense could get off the damn field.

    • Only thing I really see it doing is possibly making Tepper listen if a different play caller can't run the offense because of limitations. New hire, someone who hasn't been watching Bryce for the past 3 years up close may be able to talk some sense if he sees that he isn't able to get the job done.
