Could I sell you Tmac at 8, followed by every single pick being used on D??

No. We don't pick again till the bottom of the second round. Good chance anybody close to greens talent will be all gone by then. We need blue chippers on defense not just depth, especially pass rush.

There was some talk after the first practice that Green had attempted that speed to power move all day and the discourse was that he just needed to focus on what he did well. Then came out, had that great rep that got everyone talking, then quit out on the game.

What I meant was once you have a combine result, you will go back and review the tape again, and you will most likely see the results backed up, i.e. confirm the combine results.

You’d hope. I don’t feel like we’ve been good at this for a long time.

Sounds like his agent gave him a pretty good guarantee he's gonna be a top 15 lock. The more I see of Mike Green the more I like him and I'm slowly wanting him to be the pick at #8.

Remember when people said Bryce was manipulating the draft process by doing something like this? 😮

He’s got good tape. He’s small, didn’t go to a big school and only has 1 year of high level production. Still if he had a red helmet with a G or A on it he’d be a sure fire top 10 guy. I’m warming up to him as our pick as well.

Yeah, and I will tell you something that bothers me a bit about this move--First, any real football guru understands that the OTs do film study on their edge opponent all week, so they know their moves.  Green is a finesse player who has some sneaky power; but coming from a small school, I imagine the OT knew nothing about him.  I do not think he was expecting a bull rush, and he got caught on one foot--he was not anchored at all.  while it looked impressive, I was like "Meh."  It says more about the OT than Green, imo.  Green celebrated and it was an eye opener, but I would caution the buyer to beware.  Don't get me wrong; I like Green a lot, but that is not really his game.  I think they feel that they got the results they were looking for (a highlight moment that caught everyone's attention) and they wanted that to be the last taste of Green in scouts' mouths. Smart, actually, but if the OT watched film and knew who he was up against, I am not sure that Green would have surprised the OT like that.  I think Green is a late first rounder/early second.

The more I mock, the more I can confirm your sentiment here.  Of course, we have free agency in about 6 weeks, but until we know what we have, drafting TMac early causes us to bypass the talent we need at edge and DL, especially if you are hoping to grab a starter.

I think Morgan has a list of about 2-3 players he would take at 8, but if they are not there, he will trade back--he has to fee as if he needs numbers.  Again, that could and will change to some degree.

  • Carter
  • Graham (maybe)
  • Johnson CB (maybe)
  • Mykel Williams (long shot maybe)

    • After last season, it was the same question. And the answer most people came to was "If he doesn't make the playoffs, he's gone." He made the playoffs. No matter how it was done, we made it to the playoffs. He's safe. He's going to have a chance to keep working this out, even if next season isn't a playoff one.  I think we'll do better next year than we did this season. There's something being built here.
    • The NBA is a very fickle league. Kon is one of the hottest rookies in years and beyond just his play on the court he is a very steady competitor and that translates to the rest of the team. That has been a glaring absence with the culture of this franchise through the bulk of the LaMelo Ball years that's just being completely blunt and realistic. The enigma of LaMelo Ball is he is entering year 6 and still either red hot or ice cold. We need him to find that sweet spot. Logic dictates the Hornets will want to see this core again next year. But the clock is beyond ticking at this point. It's put up or shut up. Especially considering what the Thunder managed to do recently. I'm hopeful they can keep these wins rolling in and get some much needed playoff experience under their belts which will help substantially.
    • I think as long as the Panthers are competitive with Canales they should keep him. Pepper needs to repair his/the teams image as a place prized free agents aren't hesitant to consider. Just dont do any crazy poo for a few years.
