Joe Person: “It might not be at 8, but my sense is the #Panthers will find another pass catcher for (Bryce) Young fairly early in the draft”

Warren in the first. Rolling ball of Swiss Army Knives.

I wouldn't be upset if this was the pick. I prefer a defensive pick but, Warren could be a 10 year elite TE.

I want to take a flyer on Dont'e Thornton on day 3.  Is he a RAS guy?  Big time, but have him come in sometimes as wr 4 and take the top off the defense running the same 2 or 3 routes every time basically like Metcalf his rookie season.  No one is talking about this guy and I think he is definitely my favorite sleeper, and I don't even like big wr normally.

Anyone else always read anything related to Joe Person in his nasally stupid voice. Why do I want to punch every "sports reporter" that covers the panthers square in the head?

He says this as if he gives it crediblity--he does not reach out to players, have contacts in the organization (but he says "per sources" a lot.)

Now, you all better find shelter because I am about to drop a bomb on you:

We will draft an OT before we draft a WR.

Truth Hurts Mic Drop GIF

Well, it depends on how they feel about BC on the right side and Moton's knee, but I think we are ignoring this position because it does not help us right now--this is a good OT draft, imo.

Interesting. Gotta feeling it’ll be Walker in the 1st, Noel in the 2nd.

I think you are right.

1. E Walker

2. WR Noel

3. OT (MBow or Trapilo)

4. S (Sanker)

4. CB (Riley or Strong)

A solid draft with 1 potential superstar in Walker.  All of these should be starters/solid contributors by 2026.

I think they use their 5ths to move around a bit to get their targets.  They walk away with the players above plus a few other late round selections at TE, LB, RB and DT.

Just give me one in the 2nd or 3rd who runs great routes and catches  everything thrown at him.   Other teams find these types every year. Our scouting dept shoulda been cleaned out years ago.
I swear I trust some of the huddle posters evaluations more

Exactly. We always seem to value speed or physical measurables. Route running technicians almost always pan out and yet we never seem to draft them.

Yep. Everyone keeps talking about how we need more speed at receiver but what we actually need are receivers at receiver. We've drafted a bunch of high caliber athletes planning on making receivers out of them but we lack polished receivers outside of Thielen.

What position do the Panthers historically not suck at drafting in the 2nd round? Our 2nd round draft history looks like good teams' 6th round draft history.

We got Moton in the 2nd and he's been a long term beast. But Greg Little a few years later cancels that out.

Yeah, good teams occasionally land studs in the 6th round. Most are duds though that wash out of the league. It is what it is. That's expected in the 6th round. Our problem is that's the story of our 2nd round draft history.

    • Biiiiiig eyeroll on this.  First, Look at historical stats of the most recent historical great DBs.  I plucked 3, Revis, Sherman, and Norman (cuzz he was our guy).  Combined post age 30, there are TWO pro bowls between those 3 and wanna get this...ZERO seasons with 16 games started.  ALL missed time.  It is RARE that Corners survive that long in the NFL and its about time we started recognizing this fact.  Jaycee is a good bet because it hasnt been anything seriously devastating injury wise, and with his sample size he could and should be an incredible piece for the panthers through age 30. Jaire kinda flops on the other side, hes 28...so hes under 30, but he wants his payday before it comes up, hes also been injury prone lately.  Bulk of the contract will be on opposite side of 30.  Will both of these guys help us be better in 2026?  SURE!  No doubt, but the question is, will these guys help us past 2026...not sure. The investment isnt worth the risk, nor would the ROI be anywhere close to worth it.  Neither guy is moving us from a 6-8 win team to a 8-10 team, period. My point is we're in this state a 6-8 win team IMO and he projects us as  a 4-6 win team.  EVEN if we think Jaire or Ramsey will make us a 6-8 win team, it in NO WAY is worth the money or capital to move that much just to suck kinda less.
    • I assumed he was retiring but apparently he plans on playing multiple more seasons.  Florida is gonna have trouble holding onto everyone.  Happens to all teams that have that much success.
    • I hate Marchand, but if he became a free agent.....
