Ward 1, Hunter, maybe 2. Per McShay

So you think comparing a safety to a LB makes sense?

Chinn was a S/NLB (Buffalo nickle) hybrid.  Yes, it makes sense.  Thomas Davis did it back in the day, but even he struggled even before the ACL injuries.  Finally he settled in to LB and ditched safety altogether.

That being said, rookie QB does buy time normally.

Veteran QB usually means unemployment if things don't work out.

I should also mention I think the Giants will nuke the entire coaching staff and FO next offseason.

see I think the opposite, I think they basically said look we can either build this thing right and not overdraft a QB like Daniel Jones or you can fire us and get the same result

This would be great for us if it went this way because Sanders would be on the board and trade ups are on the table.

Not too sure about that.  I've seen really recent mocks--since his Pro Day--where he falls completely out of round 1.  So the idea of teams jumping at the opportunity to trade up for him is a probably a pipe dream.

Walker is a LB that can blitz from all LB spots like Luvu, he is very similar in size and they play the same.  Makes more sense to compare the 2.

That is not the way it works historically.

I very highly doubt that. When you look at the insane history of over drafting QB's, I would be very, very, VERY surprised to see him drop outside the top 15.

He may not be an elite prospect but he is arguably the best in this class.

I'm convinced they like walker more than graham.

Me too, but Graham would a least make them pause for a second or two before turning the card in for Walker.  The idea of Graham and Brown together is enticing, but probably not enough to kick Walker to the curb.  Dude probably already has his Panthers draft day hat in hand.

I get all of that.  My problem is production, a one-year wonder whose stats are good, but far from eye-popping, especially for a top 10 prospect.  He needs developing.  We are not developers, refiners/tweaking--yes, but we suck at molding the raw athletic types from word go.  Yet that what this front office drools over.  I have to give Marty Hurney some credit, in the first round he always took BPA that was as close to Pro ready as possible.  He at least waited until day 2 to find the development projects that rarely panned out.

Carter to 3, would cause the trade calls to light up. I don't see giants and Carter a match. They already have too much invested at edge.

The gamblers called this days ago.

It still feels like ward, Carter, and hunter will be the first 3 picks.

if Sanders makes it past 3 its going to get weird..

Are we really acting like Walker wasn't good in 2023? He led Georgia in sacks with 5, as a part time player. Georgia saw him as a future ILB and once they saw he could rush the passer well, they moved him outside and he became a starter.

When he is on the field it's obvious who the best player is.  Stat watchers don't care

My clued in Giants fan Buddy says #3 is Carter's floor. If he's there they're taking him.

I think this is correct.  I see Ward (Tenn), Carter/Hunter (Cleve), Carter/Hunter (Giants), Membou or Campbell (Pats), Graham or McMillan (Jax), Jeanty (Raiders), Jets (Membou/Campbell)

Of course, there will be a trade or two, but that is where i see it. two.five weeks out.

I see Indy or Pittsburgh moving up for Sanders if he drops to 7.

Honestly, I couod see Pittsburgh  moving all the way to 3 to get Sanders. Their window is now and Tomlin  clock is ticking. Their roster doesn't have many holes, so picks shouldn't worry them.  Depends on the Giants mindset but they could bend them over and get future 1st since they don't have any 2nds.

Did I miss something?  The people we have developing players now are not the ones we've had in the past so I don't know what the heck people are talking about when they say we are not good at developing players right now.  We only have one year to go on.

Canales likes young players or players who are on an upward trajectory, especially in FA this year.  Past QB's and what he's done with Bryce are good examples.

Tershawn Wharton - 26
Tre'von Moehrig - 25
Pat Jones II - 26
Bobby Brown III - 24
Michael Jackson - 28
Jaycee Horn - 25
Tommy Tremble - 24
We missed on Milton Williams but he's 26.

Everyone else we picked up are on 1 year deals.

The Panthers new front office and Canales absolutely scream developmental team.

Pick 8 (stay)
Tier 1 Elite - Abdul Carter, Travis Hunter and Mason Graham
Tier 2 Elite - Jalon Walker, Mykel Williams, Will Johnson

Trade down:
There are quite a few really good players that fit us at Edge, DT, S and WR mid to late 1st and high 2nd.  Some combos that would be possible that I really like.  Imagine getting 2 of these guys by trading down.
Stark, Pierce Jr, Golden, Scourton, Grant, Emmanwori, Ezeiruaku, Umanmielen, Deone Walker, Harmon and this is just off the top of my head.

    • I have been looking for a dropped pass list and all that comes up is QBs. And team stats. When I do receivers I get the passing stats for a handful that threw passes this year.    I wanted to be accurate but anyhow I was looking because thought I remembered reading where T Mac had more drops than XL this year.  One of you many smarter than me people here,I would appreciate it if you know how to pull that up, please do. Thank you.    And yeah I know that isn’t all there is to it I just thought it was interesting.  Of course what the hell is a drop lol.
    • I agree with this and I think it's worth mentioning too that Bryce is not consistent on his placement and especially velocity and that in large part is driven by his footwork. We all know XL doesn't have the best hands and I don't know that he can overcome that. Cam always had the heater that just hit your hands and sank into your grip, where Bryce has some that are harder thrown, some soft. Bryce stepping into a pass looks so much different than that hop throw thing he does. I think XL really needs to hit the jugs machine and start learning how to catch all these different touch passes. TMac and Coker don't have these issues. If XL doesn't get some work in he's going to be out of the league in the next couple of years.
    • I think most people like XL from a personal standpoint. I don't think he's stupid either. Although if we are being realistic he is lacking in football IQ at this point in time and it cannot be disputed that he has not taken working on his craft seriously at all times given the body of work on the field. It speaks for itself. I myself have defended him at times given the circumstances of our QB room. But he is now in his third year and 25 years old. We are not in a position as a franchise to go around babying anyone especially first round draft picks. He needs to take his position and his football career seriously or he is going to end up selling used cars somewhere. I hope he realizes this and takes an extended break from social media because that mess certainly isn't going to increase his net worth if he ends up out of the league. And these hanger on types will disappear quick too once that money dries up and it surely will eventually. We'll see how he responds.
