Steelers Trade WR Pickens to the Cowboys

Recommended Posts

I wonder if the Steelers are setting themselves up for a tank year to get a QB? Trading talented head case Pickens, rumors that TJ Watt is on the trading block, that dumpster fire of a QB room, etc. It sure doesn't look like they're trying to win next year.

I never expected pickens to to be there more than this season after the DK trade. I mean they essentially play the same role. The steelers won't be tanking until they blow it up and fire tomlin, IMO. They believe they are a playoff team every season with that defense keeping their floor relatively high, and the lack of a QB keeping the ceiling close to the floor. I don't think a third round pick (plus later round picks) from the pickens trade is helping them that much in terms of draft capitol to trade up for a QB in the draft. I also don't think TJ is leaving though people look to JJ as a hey he did it, why not TJ. Though I am expecting them to blow it up in 2-3 years after more of the same possible wildcard 1st round exits (if they even make it) and late draft positions. I just don't see them being top 5 pick unless they officially blow it up.

Why are they trading for more wide receivers?  They already have Mingo on the roster.

We got more for Mingo than the Steelers got for Pickens.

I just don't see how winning is possible this year. I mean, their penciled in starter is Mason Rudolph. I'd venture to say there's a decent chance they're trotting out a 6th round rookie at QB this season in Will Howard just to see what he can do out there before they feel forced to push all their chips to the middle in the draft next year.

Yeah if there was a season I think an ownership like the  Rooneys would be "okay" with tanking

It's the year the winners get a Manning as a QB. Can totally see the "Steeler way" going out try he window this season for Arch.

Pickens to Dallas for a 2026 third-round pick. The Cowboys will also send a 2027 fifth-round pick to the Steelers and get back a 2027 sixth-round pick.

Man, for a 24 year old WR with his talent to get traded for that the overall view of him around the league must have been that he was nuclear radioactive level toxic.

Why the he'll did they trade for and sign dk if they're tanking this year bc they still don't have a qb?

Do they only draft headaches? Brown, jjss, diontae, and now Pickens? If the steelers want you does that mean your a royal pain?

Mike Wallace, Martavis Bryant, Chase Claypool, Plaxico Burress. Headcase WRs are what the Steelers do.

    • I thought he was from watching him play and also doing his first HC job. I thought he was the real deal  Apparently what happened is Kraft committed to Mayo and I don’t remember the timeline exactly - but Vrabel was unemployed at the same time Belichick was unemployed. They both were fired (or out) after the 2023 season.  Kraft hired Mayo. Who was kind of an obvious disaster. He probably already had the deal in place but I will give Kraft credit for not sleeping. With Vrabel out there for 2025 he made the move he needed to make and if it hurt Mayo’s feelings then oh well.  I guess you can tell I am not fond of Kraft but that was a really savvy move. At his age, pretty good. Still has it.
    • It’s going to feel like a home game for the bills. There are so many of their fans that live down here now, and many of them have never seen Allen play in person since their last visit was 8 years ago. It didn’t matter for the cowboys game, but it might here. I think we likely lose a close one. Probably a questionable flag or two that doesn’t go our way. X factor for Buffalo will be Kincaid and Knox. If we do win it’s because we get ahead and play keep away from Allen. FYI- I have many friends who are Bills fans that are fed up with Beane who we all revere and think is the one that got away. They feel like he was great to land Josh but has done a terrible job of building around him (especially at WR) and rely on him to become super man to win- sounds kind of familiar, like the last time we had a franchise QB.
    • I always thought of him as an uptight military family dude, didn't know he needs to wash that mouth out with soap lol.
