Hornets Screwed in NBA Draft Lottey...Again

Adam Silver is no more than a mod boss. Under the table handshake with Dallas … force them to move Luka to the Lakers (viewership is way down, LeBron is about to retire; they need their new star in a Lakers uniform to carry the league). So Silver gets them to move Luka to LA in exchange they’ll receive the #1 pick Cooper Flagg.

It’s so obvious it’s insulting. This league is a fuginggggg joke. Always has been. Ewing, LeBron, Kyrie (after LeBron leaves Cleveland), etc etc etc. It is literally pro wrestling with a ball and hoop.

Adam Silver is the biggest fraud in all of "pro" sports. The NBA is now a joke of a league that is banking on people to just love basketball and ignore reality.

I’d love for the league to go down but I doubt it will. Fans of bigger market teams don’t have the same experience as we do. If we all stop supporting the league, and by proxy the Hornets, all that happens is the Hornets get moved…again. I get so disgusted hearing the media talk about non flagship teams anytime they get lucky enough to land a star. The star basically always leaves and it is always framed as the team’s fault for not building around the star when it’s the players who run the league and decide which city to play grab ass in. Milwaukee drafted and developed Giannis and won a championship and have bent over backwards doing everything Giannis wants to make him happy from coaches to players, and all I hear is how Giannis deserves a better franchise. That’s right, get fuged Milwaukee and your fans. And of course that better franchise is going to be someplace the NBA has basically seeded with draft picks.

Just get rid of the stupid lottery. Every fan knows it’s nonsense at this point. We also need to trade away Ball at this point and draft a PG to develop with Miller, Williams, and whatever we get for Ball.

Thing is, we can't even blame it on being a small market. OKC is a smaller market than Charlotte, and they're competing. Just need solid ownership and a good front office. We've never had good ownership, and our last good GM was Bob Bass.

LOL…right.  They have this exactly like they want it.  They will never change now

That’s kind of the point though. OKC was lucky enough to get the #2 pick for KD instead of the #1 pick for Oden and they did a fantastic job building around him. And what happens? He leaves to ring chase in larger markets and they have nothing to show for it. They are definitely a better drafting team than the Hornets, but it still comes down to the only shot we have is lucking into a generational player in the draft and winning before they leave, and that chance is diminished by the rigged lottery system.

Well, I was referring to the current OKC team. Who is their generational player? SGA? The Hornets were the ones who drafted him, at #11. And then traded him immediately. And even if he leaves OKC, they won 68 games this year, and are currently 2 games away from the conference finals. So, they've got a chance, which is something we've never said about the Hornets. My point being, even if the odds weren't stacked against us (which they are), we'd manage to screw it up anyway.

Even if the lottery was legit, it's just a bad, bad look for the NBA. We've heard scattered "rigged" claims before, but last night everyone seemed to be in agreement. Even Mavs fans.

    • As I've said numerous times the last few days, having Thielen on the field has literally 0% to do with my views on this (I've even said I think Renfrow is going to take a ton of snaps from Thielen anyways).  He has more value to this team without playing a single snap than a 2026 5th round draft pick does for the franchise.   His value is helping set up T-Mac, XL, Coker, and Horn for long term success by helping them learn how to be pros, how to go about their business, how to train, how to do all the little things that helped turn Thielen from a D2 undrafted player into a borderline Vikings legend.
    • He only wants to be traded because it's the Vikings who are calling. If he didn't want to be here, he could have retired, instead he took a pay raise to come back for another season.  I get it, it's an opportunity that he'd like to take, but we shouldn't cut off our nose to spite our face because he now wants to jump at this opportunity less than two weeks before the season starts. I'm not against trading him, I'm just against trading him for a return that doesn't help our team as much as having him on the roster would.  I'll put it this way, if a 5th is the best we can get for him from the Vikings and he's now dug in on not wanting to stay this year, I'm saying screw you and trading him to any of the other 30 teams besides the Vikings for the best offer we can get. He was perfectly happy here a week ago, if the Vikings soured him on that and then want to get him for peanuts, then screw them both.
    • Yes and no, he wants to go back and his wife most definitely wants to go back. He took a bunch of team mates to Minny and has worked out with JJ two offseasons in a row. It's where both him and his wife are from.    The money was basically a please come back and help Bryce. Pretty please...here's some more money.    Now he's agreed to a paycut to go back to the Vikings.
