So our improvement depends on how bad the rest of the division is and not how much better we are?

improved record...yeah sure. i mean we don't have a difficult schedule as it is especially for the first half. if we are playing like we did at the end and can actually improve on that (very little reason to believe that won't happen) then we could easily find ourselves hitting the mid point with 4-5 wins. if things are gelling and we've got in a groove we could see that bump up to 8 or 9 wins be seasons end.

i think this is completely reasonable. we just don't need to see a regression like we did with BY the beginning of last year.

19-0 BABY!!!!!

Keep Pounding' drum will be at Super Bowl

Let's face it, that last Super Bowl season, none of us saw it coming. Most had us at 7 wins.

Heck, the first Super Bowl season, they had us for less probably.

It's about time for another surprise run.

One game at a time

We need to beat the (insert next team) next week

We need to focus on the (insert next team)

If we play our brand of Football we will be ok

We are playing to win next week, then the division, then we'll see, once you get to the playoffs, everyone is 0-0

We'll be looking to put our guys in a position to win

ETA

17-0 baby!!

to an extent we still will be what we will be.  We haven't drastically changed.   We likely will be a bottom 3rd defense.  We will likely be a bottom 3rd pass attack.

I expect us to improve but we were really bad in both areas last year, so while we should improve in both areas.......I don't expect an Earth shattering change in those 2 departments.

Bryce Young had 17 total TD and 4 picks his last 8 games. People don't realize how solid he was. We drafted a WR in round 1.

Signed league average to above average players for front 7. Added Moehrig. I think you are a tad too low on what Dan has done.

I'll go 9-8.

10 wins if we get Alabama Bryce (the Carolina Reaper) at the beginning of the season.

I mean you could certainly make that case put its depending on us catching some breaks, teams in our division dropping off unexpectedly (atl, tampa) and most importantly being basically injury free to thread that needle.  And if there is anything a panther fan knows, for what ever reason, we havent had a relatively injury free season in what feels like forever.

But I may be crazy, but I agree our schedule is set up very nice to get some really good momentum going into 2nd half of the season

Devils advocate:

He averaged 200yards/game and 60% completition.  5 of those 17 game against a poo falcon team that wasnt playing for anything

yeah, we drafted a WR in round 1.  All signs points he is going to have a development window.  Just like XL (another first round WR).  Neither of which are natural pairings with Bryce Young and how he plays the game.   Drafting Tmac isn't going to drastically alter things this season most likely.

in his final 8 games.....he was also meh/okay in 5 of the 8.  Which is great given what he was, which wasn't shouldn't even be on a NFL field caliber.    But the Panther passing attack as a whole or even cherry picked to only post benching......was a subpar NFL pass attack (which ranked dead last on the season). Too many IMO focus on the improvement vs where it actually stacks up vs the rest of the league.

again, the defense SHOULD improve.  Almost a certainty.  It was historically horrific.  So even a good improvement there leaves in the bottom 3rd of the league.

Jaycee Vs. Hunter is good.

Well two things, first is that it wasn't just about seeing a good matchup, it was getting the college matchup re-match between the two of them and current Top 10 picks.

And second, I doubt we see all too much of Jaycee vs Hunter either, I'd think we'd be more likely to have Jaycee on BTJ more often than the rookie in his first game.

Horn doesn't generally travel so the Jags could get him on Dyami Brown....

Horn should be on Thomas Jr 100% of the snaps IMO.  That's what he is paid to do.

    • The only WR that makes sense in the first is KC Concepcion. He fills multiple roles in the offense and is a PR specialist.
    • That depends upon what happens with receiver this year and what happens with free agency next year. Hopefully we'll be good by addressing receiver this year (regardless of whether we snag one in the first round or not). If we don't and are unlucky enough for to Coker get hurt (and X solidifies his bust status, and JAGs be JAGing), then we may be fùçked! But I assume that Dan Morgan and company will feel compelled to look for answers in free agency and use that to set up the draft just like this offseason.  Reality is not as simple as we drafted this position X times in a row in the first. If you're suggesting that we could draft a position in the first four times in a row, that's not likely. At some point probability has to be taken into account. I mean, how many years in a row can you be unlucky with one position?  As I've said at times before, you try and plan for the long term personnel-wise and cap-wise of course, but things happen so, in a sense, you still must look at each season--each "team" if you will--unto itself each season. So many things can happen between now and then. A major industry can profoundly impact the bigger picture (like this year), someone could offer you a trade proposal that you can't resist, players might not have progressed to your expectations--you know, things like that. Moreover, you have to be aware of the dynamics of each draft class, including the fact that there could be unexpected draft risers and fallers during the college season. That's a lot. As of today, we expect the 2027 draft to have more exclamations than question marks at OT and the QB class and WR group is expected to be exceptionally strong. We'll have a clearer picture of whatever we'll have to focus on next year at this time.  Lastly, keep in mind that there's always more than one way to get you to where you want to go. The yearly puzzle is not static, it's dynamic and complex.
    • I'm fine with Thieneman or McNeil-Warren.. Rodriguez won't last until 51 so they would have to trade up, he may end up being a late first round selection. Anthony Hill Jr. is more likely to be available. I don't expect defense in the first round now after the murmurings of finding another weapon for Bryce.
