I don't disagree for this season but my POV is that the coaches know he is on borrowed time and has at absolute most another season left in him after this. And while I am speculating I have to imagine that with the clear and orchestrated emphasis on getting younger across the roster the goal as the season progresses is to have the core of TMac XL Coker and one of our young TE's finish the season as the primary options on critical downs and in the red zone. That's not even mentioning the backfield and the pass catching ability there.

We can simultaneously like Adam Thielen and also remain keenly aware he is very much temporary and here moreso to guide our young receivers and pass the torch. Same with Renfro. And if we are serious about actually competing for playoffs it's going to take those younger receivers stepping into key roles for it to happen.

We don’t disagree on Theilen’s outlook, but he’s getting more PT than Horn this year. That feels like a near certainty to me. That’s why I posted we should stash Horn somewhere that will save us a roster spot but also keep him under contract.

Regarding Horn it's still very early so who can really say as of yet you know.

I will say I've begun to wonder about our strength and conditioning staff.

It always triggers me about hamstring issues and WRs.

I blame the NFL career leader in hamstring issues- Devin funchess

Memo to all players coming to NC- welcome to humidity!! in order to be a professional NFL player you must hydrate before you enter the hellscape. Grapes, fruits, pure H20, sport Pedialyte the night before and you should be able to avoid the nasty hamstring issues.

He's from central  Florida. NC is nothing

Regardless of an early June injury, the WR room, at least on paper right now, has never been deeper.  AT needs to be the slot possession WR (Ricky Proehl) and Coker is quite possibly his long term replacement, if not a solid #2.  Renfrow could give us a solid few years as well. XL will probably improve with the TMac competition.  TMac is goofy, but on the field, he has done nothing but produce. Horn is sneaky fast, and I wonder if he would not have done better in college at a university that did not have Hunter.  He is a deep threat and was on a team with a bad OL, so his numbers were a bit low.  In fact, there are two WRs who signed UDFA contracts who will probably go to the PS and wait for a season.  We are in fine shape at WR, if everyone progresses.

I love what Dan has done to the WR room. This is AT last year, Dan is hoping Hunter will replace AT, that lets Coker have more time to develop behind Hunter (if Hunter doesn’t have it, we move on with Coker as AT replacement)

T-Mac and XL will be outside. Horn is the punt returner

Moore will be moved to PS until he is needed because of an injury

That's the caveat that many of us are skimming over. And it's a big one. Most of that room is really young, and we've seen our share of early success in Carolina at the WR position that quickly faded into obscurity.
