According to Anthony Rizzuti of Panthers Wire, the four standouts are (FWIW):

Hunter Renfrow

Jimmy Horn

Princely Umanmielen

Demani Richardson

The Huddle has discussed Renfrow, Horn, and Umanmielen. There hasn't  been too much discussion about Richardson

Demani can end up being a player, the opportunity is there for him, I think he would be the best FS we have.

We need someone to step up at FS. That was an obvious roster hole coming into camp.

If Richardson can work out, we may have a pretty good S group.

I may be reading too much into this, but the comments from Canales about Horn don't really indicate good news. He compares him to Deven Thompkins, whom he said he loves, and Thompkins had a really good camp last year and was creating separation and making plays just about every day. But Thompkins was cut. And when we did bring him back, it wasn't for any real meaningful snaps. And then we cut him again. That's not a guy I would want to be compared to.

Granted, we did draft Horn, and Horn isn't Thompkins, but Canales praised Horn as a guy that made other guys better, not as a guy that was playing well. And I think there is a clear difference.

Just trying to see through the coach speak.

Hey, at least your opinion is honest and insightful. I would've never thought about the comparison as critically as you have hadn't you posted it.

I think what hurt Thompkins was he wasn't good enough on special teams to warrant a full time roster spot. Horns only realistic shot is there as well. But he may just unseat Coker as wr4 the way hes playing, if Renfrow hasn't beat him to it already.

I don't see Horn beating out Coker. Coker was the 2nd best receiver last year behind Adam Thielen. Time and Time again he made the catch that XL couldn't.

He doesn't have to beat out Coker.  He has to beat out David Moore.

I have seen a few reports saying Horn's speed is a difference maker in the passing game as something we really do not have - a field stretching talent probably in the slot that opens up plays that no one else can unlock for us.  That makes him much more valuable than Moore, since DM is good as a #6 receiver but not great at anything.  Also saw some guys saying Horn has been very difficult to cover in TC all around, plus is possibly huge in ST.  I still predict if we carry 6 WR's he is locked and DM is out.

    • I used to think Juan was a Zod alt. Agree he's a great poster.
    • Hawks said nah we good and sent him to the shadow realm aka the Wizards. Cold blooded. I mean they're 2-2 in a series with a young up and coming Knicks team largely through 34 year old CJ McCollum. Even if they ultimately lose the series at least they are there and have something to build on. I think Hornets fans are just beaten down and lack the objectivity to assess the situation. They think we are going to get so much worse if and when we finally change gears. Worse how? We've already been a lottery team for years now. We've already been looking to win our first playoff series in about a quarter century. We already can't get past the play in and in failing to do so we have completely embarrassed ourselves twice looking like we don't even belong. Honestly there is absolutely no excuse for a team like the Magic to be more competitive and successful than us in the playoffs. Absolutely disgusting. But that's just me. I was fuging lit when we got the Hornets back in Charlotte but that is old old news. It's time for these boys to get into a playoff series. Enough is enough. If they can't do it for 2026-27 then they need to make wholesale changes regardless.
    • Not one single pick that is asking me why we drafted a guy in the first place. It was a guy we needed and/or a guy that had certain traits making them stand out. Best of all, I feel everyone we drafted are capable of stepping onto the field this year and have a meaningful role (even Kuwatch on special teams). Obviously, nothing is guaranteed but I'm not seeing any huge flags on guys because they're risky projects or massive overreaches.
