JC Horn talks about receiver imposible to cover and not TMac!

Seems very possible that Thielen could end up being the odd man out of the WR rotation this year and I think we may end up trading him.

If Renfrow proves to be just as, if not more, effective as a possession WR out of the slot, then there really isn't a role for Thielen.  As he isn't at all an outside WR these days, Horn is going to be the speedster in the slot, and then we have T-Mac/XL/Coker who can all play outside or slide into the slot and likely will be rotating who lines up where all year.

If he's going to be our #6 in that sense, find a WR needy team at the end of camp and try and flip him for a MLB if possible, he's gotta be useful to a contending team who needs a steady presence and sure hands in the slot (Buffalo?).

I'd love to have him around to mentor T-Mac/XL/Coker, but there's also no reason that can't be Renfrow either and we badly need a MLB or even another CB, much more than we need a 6th WR.

I don't think so, we need them both.  I think Thielen is just fine being part of the rotation and not having to carry the load at his age.  Why do folks suddenly think we have luxury to trade away our best players, especially one that has tremendous chemistry with our quarterback.   Stop the nonsense

Not to mention that our younger players have yet to proven to be anywhere near the level of "proven."

I don't think we have the luxury to be getting rid of effective players.

I understand the sentiment some of you have for trading AT, but I don’t think the team shares your views.  He’s literally Bryce’s security blanket.  The chemistry between the two is evident and well documented.  The last thing the staff would want is to remove the most comfortable target Bryce has.

Its not a bad idea to try and snag a mid-late round pick for Adam, it’s just not worth the risk of setting Bryce back in his already slow development.

This and people saying trade Thielen are people thinking too highly of Coker and XL. Outside of a catch or two what has Coker done in actual games?

For a UDFA, he matched the production of our 1st round pick on less targets.  Agreed, that’s not saying much but in that context it says a lot.

Coker had ~80% of Thielen’s yardage last year. As a UFA, not the first option.

It feels like everyone’s anchoring on that outlier stretch Thielen had two years ago. He hasn’t been in that form since. He should comfortably be behind T-Mac this year, and not such a big focus that it’s worth taking the reps from XL and Coker. And if Renfrow can give us the same vet presence, but is five years younger? Pretty easy to see how AT gets crowded out.

    • Not sure who said it first, but Tepper is the correct answer. Still, I'm gonna go with Kasay keeping it inbounds. If, you subscribe to the butterfly effect version of time travel consequences.... When we win SBXXXVIII everybody's lives change: Moose never breaks his leg, We win it all again in 05. Tommy Jone is unknown and Peppers stays home, Champs once more 2008. No artificial pig heart turning JR into a creepy weirdo, no lockout, no Clausen. Fox and Jake ride off into the sunset on their own terms. No 2-14, no #1 pick. But, no laptop, no Blinn, 3 years behind The Golden Calf of Bristol, we still get Cam. JR let's him grow his locs like he always wanted, Smitty sees Cam in a new light. Dreads swinging, (and Smitty with his 3 Lombardis behind him) Cam is old enough to get those calls. No Manning narrative, Cotchery TD, PI against Talib on Philly Brown, 10,000 RTP calls and Kony Ealy SB50 MVP. No Jeans Fridays, no Tepper. KB doesn't slip on his own meatsweat mid-route in SD, Cam becomes the 1st QB to win 10 straight SBs. Retiring after being elected 47th president of the US of A, Cam ushers in the Permanent Proletarian Revolution across the globe, Xi Jinping bows in awe. "ẄøŘƙƐṛ§ őF ŧĤə ŵØRłð, ŮŊÏŦƐ!!!"
    • Yeah your right the owner was copping hand shandies while all this was going down
    • I mean not surprised the Patriots took him in and aren't trying to push him out. They've been the most morally bankrupt team in the NFL for a long while. Wouldn't be surprised if Vrabel has his own dirt on Kraft/Brady and other assholes from that organization over the last couple decades.
