And Bryce might have to play next week if Andy can't go or they need to pick someone up quick

I think Bryce needs to play again next week anyway. He looks great in training camp where people are barred from hitting him.

He looks meh in preseason games where second stringers are allowed to take shots at him.

I'm feeling pretty antsy about his capabilities. We can't wait each year for him to kick in during week 8.

Especially not with another "defense" by Ejero. Only DC in the league that doesn't believe in tackling practice. Just hands the players a pamphlet and hopes that they read it.

I wouldn't overly worry about it, TBH. We will likely know what we have by about halfway through the season if not earlier.

Even had Bryce been tearing it up, I would be preaching the same thing. It's preseason so the takeaways are lesser than normal.

Just let it play out.

This exact thing has been posted for the past 6ish years.  At some point you guys need to realize that preseason does carry some semblance of importance

It isn't relevant if it does or doesn't have importance(don't really believe it has a major significance personally). The offseason is basically over. This team just is what it is.

Look, if it is a disaster, we have weeks to wail and gnash our teeth.

It's fine. Just another day as a Tepper Panthers fan.

When Sanders fell to the 5th round, the team should have picked him with 140.

"We need a backup 2026 when Daltons contract ends."....

But the intention to let him compete with the new first round QB pick 2026 if BY failed. If BY show up, could have traded Sanders for a cheerleader or whatever. 5th round is nothing.

- There are no known potential franchise qbs on other teams depthchartz waiting to get an opportunity. Roll the dice on draft picks. Should pick a QB each year until you get it right..

Bryce is too fragile to have a competent backup challenging him.

Either Bryce plays well enough to keep us from drafting a QB or he doesnt. If we are picking high in the draft I dont see a scenario where we arent evaluating the top QBs.

Hard to say. Doesn't necessarily project as a strong QB class early.

The biggest reason for panic if Bryce flops this season would be Dan and DC trying to save their jobs, most likely. So perhaps they reach next draft or offseason.

What the fug is he doing in the NFL if he can't handle a challenge. Bunch of bullshit.

Dalton was ranked the 3rd best backup by PFF going into this season.

People just make up shitty narratives and people actually believe it.

No wonder this country is in the shape it is...

Does anyone understand context or critical thinking anymore?

You're literally just making up nonsense.

Brother.

Brother....

The New Orleans Saints knew Andy Dalton was washed and barely backup worthy two whole years ago. We got to see what Andy Dalton looked like with more than 1 start under his belt last year too. It resulted in some of the worst whoopings in years. Why some of you are still running from the truth like this is bordering on cult like.

    • Rico walking is no big deal. I'll take a healthy 2024 Hubbard over Rico any time and losing Mays is, again, no a big deal.  Young is signed for what, $35M for the next two years? Say he wants $50M but the FO doesn't. If they put the franchise tag on him, that would be around $55? So basically they are getting Young for the next 3 years for an average of $30M per year. Putting the franchise tag on him wouldn't be my first choice but it gives them an option that wouldn't be locking him into a long term, $50M contract. I'm not suggestion they do that. Just that the option will be there should they get to that point. Hunt is on a 5 year deal which is done in 28 so he either restructures or is gone anyway. Moton will be 35 by then and will either be gone or have diminished playing time. Neither of those players has anything to do with getting Young a contract. The O line is way overpaid anyway. Hopefully by the time they are gone, Freeling and Hecht will be developed and Ickey will be healthy. Young was benched his second year and only got his job back because Dalton was injured. Not sure how you can call that entitled. And I would NOT say putting a rookie QB on a team with no receivers, tight ends or O lineman and then being put with a coach who never wanted you and is fired mid season, is a definition of luck. As far as competition, no team is going to bring in competition for a QB picked first overall - especially given the capital that was given up to get him.
    • With apologies to Lady Cowboy fan, any day we can screw over the Cowboys is a GOOD day…
    • Been here since 2014ish. Good times. Its a shame Zod wont sell, it wouldnt take that much effort to get this place back into shape.
