Thielen traded

We did right by AT and got some comp. It's time to see if these young dudes can play and step up. People acting like we need to sit XL so he can learn...if that's the case, we drafted wrong. Can't be spending first round picks on project WR's who can't even start. Be better or be gone.

This tells me that the Front Office likely doesn't see us as a playoff team this year. That's ridiculous considering what we gave up for Bryce and that he's in his third year.

I could have told you that before this trade. They've been hinting all off-season that this isn't the year for playoffs

A lot of things about this can be true at the same time.

Was he our most reliable wr? Yes

But he was also injured a chunk of last year, we had to buy him out of retirement,  he had 1 foot out the door and the other in minny, we aren't going to the superbowl this year, we only had him for this year, we need to see how our young wr are and we need to see who Bryce really is. Thielen was at most a 3 or 4. Getting the return we did while not eating salary was solid. Thielen put up with this circus for years. We did him right and I wish him thr best in minny

Not if they can't catch or get open.

See that's why so many convos here get into the weeds and contentious. Folks are more than eager to groan about a lack of offensive young talent then when we do have good young talent (two first round WR's and a young Jalen Coker) they say that talent isn't good enough. You expect top tier play from the moving parts within the offense at all times but you'll accept literally anything from the signal caller and call it progress. Doesn't make sense.

So for now Coker, our 2nd year UDFA, is by default the most reliable WR on this team?! You serious, Clark? You know he is low key celebrating this.

Until Tet takes a true NFL snap, Coker has the highest floor in the team as Tet is an unknown. I feel like Tet will be a dawg for us, but again, it’s still an unknown.

Knowing that Thielen was out may have influenced them keeping Moore. It’s going to be fun to see this play out.

vikes pickup his $7mil this year too.

this is a solid deal and it's time bryce leaves the thielen nest and spread his wings. I remember we got rid of smith as well so Cam could take up more of the leadership role.  Theilen served his purpose as a dependable vet to help the young QB but it's year 3 now. time for the next step.

got mid teir draft picks and more $$$ for a 34 year old injury prone wr. this is a win.

    • agree to disagree you are entitled to that opinion even though I find the argument completely bizarre based on data. I could type out a long paragraph discussing those areas but what’s the point. I posted a screenshot that showed Bryce in a similar post snap situation with a free rusher in his face which resulted in a TD - that’s what happened on the play so I posted it.
    • I've already addressed this notion in a previous reply. You are basing your assertion outside reality if you think Bryce would have not only been more successful but defeated the Patriots in place of Herbert. Bryce got blown off the field by that Patriots team with the highest paid OL in the league. We've seen Bryce with an OL that gave up 65 sacks and it resulted in the #1 pick. And that is not a defense of Herbert or arguing he is a great QB in any way. He has physical talent but he has been similar to Darnold early in his career in terms of his very up and down perfomances. However that does not change the fact that they have significantly less invested in the OL than the Panthers.
    • I think Tepper has been setting the stage where pending there is no miracle he wipes it all clean.  Think you already have been told that with small things like Evero staying.  Bryce is the guy next year.  OC, DC, everything stays the same.  QB room largely the same.  Nothing would really matter there.  They basically get one more shot and it goes how the schedule paired with our 27th ranked O predictably most likely goes.  Everyone out the door together.  Bryce is a bridge tier QB.  I don’t see Dave surviving where he could be bridge QB here in reality.
