Hendon Hooker signed to practice squad

I don't think most actually watch a snap of his 2024 or 2025 preseason games. There is a reason a 3rd round draft pick was jettisoned so quickly for.....Kyle Allen.

He is atrocious.

Well, as far as backups go, Kyle Allen is actually a decent one.  Better at this point than Dalton probably.

That being said, Hooker apparently had an atrocious game against the Texans.

I liked hooker in the draft and he hasn't had the effect I thought, but the deal here is would you rather have plummer or hooker on the scout team.....10/10 gimmie hooker.

I mean considering the fact that Hooker is already 27 so pretty much past fixable and not really all that mobile I think Bryce Perkins would be the most versatile scout team qb out of the 3. Hooker>Plummer though for sure if Perkins wasn't/isn't an option.

Bryce Perkins is 28.

On what basis are people 27 years old unable to learn?

I like him, he's from here in Greensboro, never really got the chance because of injury at end of senior year and then was sitting behind a suddenly and impressively reinvigorated Goff.

Practice squad signing here is a really good move. Maybe he can grow into the roll a bit more and take over back-up QB duties after Dalton hangs up the cleats. If not, maybe he can just be a really good player to run practice drills here.

Either way, a good kid gets to keep living the dream for a while longer and get a paycheck. I've got no problem with that!

To be honest, most qb's on the practice squad just aren't good enough to become dependable NFL backs. A few might be, but they are relatively rare.

Yeah, I dont think age is the issue.

    • I only wonder about the West Coast team playing on tne East Coast at 1pm factor and historically that has been worth a lot to the home teams. And maybe playing down to the competition that happens sometimes. And the crazy up down up down pattern we have been in this season.  I don’t bet on these things though.
    • I think the racist stuff is barking up the wrong tree with Tepper. He is all woke and stuff. Not that liberal white people can’t be racists they are in their way pretty racist.  Or can be,  I for sure agree about the yes man aspect and particularly apply that to Wilks.  I didn’t understand the Rhule hiring at all. Did not want. But down the line with Wilks, zi personally wanted him, and personally did not see the racism being a factor in the Reich hiring as much as the fixation with offensive minded play callers and copying that trendy model.  I am having a hard time calling to mind any Black coaches who were out there with the big offensive rep. At one time Byron Leftwich was a hot name who I liked. Don’t remember what happened there but he faded. Bienemy but I never believed in him much, personally.  I think Tepper basically excluded defensive guys and went for the top rated play caller OC types. And couldn’t get Ben Johnson and ended up settling with Reich.  Who ended up NOT being a yes man at all.
    • Someone like Steve Smith wouldn't have last half a season under Tepper.
