Of course, but not winning the Super Bowl doesn’t automatically make this a poor deal. If Parsons wins DPOTY each of the next four years, I wouldn’t view the contract as a failure.

To me, there are two ways this contract isn’t a massive failure:

1) win a Super Bowl

2) Parsons is the most dominant defensive player over the next 4 years

I think GB is happy if he has another 50-60 sacks over the next 4 years. lol

I still wouldn't have done it except for a handful of teams. Way too much money for a non QB unless you have a bonafide star QB on a rookie contract and are already on the doorstep of the Superbowl.

Remember when Gettleman yanked the tag off of Norman right before the draft and it just gutted our locker room and pretty much tanked our season before it even got started? Yeah, the timing on this move is way worse than that. This is being done basically on the eve of the season kicking off. Not only is the locker room getting shocked but now you have the coaching staff pretty much recreating their game plans. I guarantee you everyone in the organization fully expected Parsons to be there

GB thinks they have that in Love. Maybe they do maybe they don't. We'll see how it plays out. Ultimately it's all about the results on the field in the way of wins, losses, and ultimately rings. If they win a SB in the next few years it was obviously worth it.

Underrated point. And I can definitely see the same thing happening in Dallas.

The Norman thing was so stupid. And I think (rightfully) it was the beginning of the end for Gettleman

Just looked up that he went to Washington. Damn, besides a deep playoff run last year, they are basically the opposite of what the Buffalo Bills are to us. Taking the worst former Panthers

Ummmmm Chinn and Luvuu have worked out pretty well so far

Luvu is viewed by a lot of people as a top 10 linebacker, and we said no thanks.

Dre Greenlaw is viewed by a lot of people as a top 10 linebacker, has been getting raved about in Denver camp, was a unrestricted FA looking for a starting spot, and we said "we'd rather give a backup DT more money"

Two extremely puzzling decisions considering our 32nd ranked LB core and our GM is a freaking ILB, but I guess it's possible that both really didn't want to come/stay here

Luvu said no thanks. He took less to leave.

Knee jerk reaction is gb got a great player but in actuality i have rarely if at all ever seen a trade like this work for the team giving up the pics.  Seems theres all this hype then alot of time players get these huge contracts and let their foot off thr gas and coast...khalil mak is a recent one as well as of course watson

Unfortunately it looks like our idiot defensive staff sees Wharton as a starting nose tackle..... which is insane when we have no less than three far better options at Nose Tackle

At first I thought man we should have done that. but the more I think about it the more at peace I am with us not doing this. First off, we don't really have a player in the Kenny Clark realm. They likely would have wanted either Jaycee or DB and I wouldn't have done that plus two firsts.

Second, while I am very excited for this season its entirely possible it all goes to hell and there is truly nothing worse than watching a shitty team and knowing you don't have your first round pick

    • I would say that seems like an odd comment from Morgan, but at the same time it's almost impossible to find a college QB declaring for the draft to have less physical ability than BY so you can assume almost anyone you bring in would be your go to QB sneak/designed run guy.
    • Gronk is the best TE of all time, but he also played with Brady. Clarke was great, but had Peyton and in an era TE's didn't make crazy money. Kittle is great, but the two times he's made the SB, he was still on his rookie contract for one, and the other the 49ers had Purdy on a cheap rookie deal which help them build the rest of the roster. So again, it's not about not wanting an elite TE, of course it would be nice.  But realistically, in today's NFL, unless that elite TE with a top end TE salary is on a team with a GOAT level QB and/or other serious cap savings (i.e. key players on rookie deals), then I think it's not a good use of cap space.
    • This place was the poo pre tepper with tons of hilarious posters like phillyB. Joined in the 2000s during the 07 season and have been here bitching about this team since. but yeah its sadly been dying a slow death, every time I come to this site I am surprised its still up. I think the 2015 season was the absolute peak, the Panthers and this board especially just haven't "felt" the same since then. Igo should really sell the board since he clearly doesn't care anymore. Also, Reddit blows and the Bryce defenders on there need Jesus.
