Matt Moore was underrated and never given a fair chance to be the guy. I will die on that hill.

2008 Panthers with Matt Moore would have crushed Arizona in the divisional round.

I throughly enjoyed and appreciated Matt in the time he started, but I also am glad things went the way they did.  Had he been given his fair shot, we never get Cam.

but I also do believe Matt deserved to a be an NFL starter long-term.

Yeah I agree but as quick as Tepper has been to fire makes me think DC or DM made the vouch.

Morgan would be my guess. Can’t fathom that we would even consider interviewing anyone on Fitterer’s staff let alone hiring his right hand man

I thought he got a lot of chances with both us and Miami. Didn’t he start one season for us?

So... definitely some things that need to be cleaned up but also some positives.

Bad

  • Bryce has had more bad plays than good. While he did a good job getting Dowdle lined up on the 3rd down conversion he has also underthrown Renfrow, missed TMac wide left, and then didn't see the DB in the area on the pick. Going to need a lot better than that for the team to not go looking for his replacement next year.
  • LBs are looking extra rough. Rozeboom has bounced off of tackles and Wallace seems to be out of position more often than not. There ain't much talent behind them either.
  • Pressure is coming from coverage creating second chances rather than guys winning on their first step still.

Good

  • The run game is looking really good even without Icky.
  • Wharton and Moehrig, the two big defensive signings, are leading the team in tackles at the delay. Both seem to just find their way to the ball.
  • The secondary in general is doing a good job of sticking in coverage + tackling. That LB group is making the middle of the field such a liability though.
  • Pie 3

Yeah but dude as quick to fire people as Tepper is, you can’t tell me that wasn’t Morgan or Canales saying they could figure it out. I think if it was up to Tepper, Evero would have been gone last year.

He always fires some and keeps others which is why he always has the same product in different ways. 2023 should have been a fire everyone and he didn't and here we are yet again.

I think Morgan was on the Bryce train and he just brought his friend and admittedly his best option to do the impossible in the most controllable way. Tepper never left that train and this is the result of building around a dead end for 3 years in different ways. Good oline, good run game, open WRs and still a bottom dweller. Someone also has a blind spot for Evero and I am guessing that's from up top too...that or Morgan and DC are just that oblivious which seems like a stretch for their strengths and weaknesses.

Amazing. 15 minutes into the season and everyones already talking about how the season is already over - 15 minutes.

Over? The season is not over, but at best something around middling. Woo hoo!  I think we'll top last year's win total. However, besting a pretty dreadful threshold isn't something to be giddy over unless it's significant.  It won't be.

    • I would say that seems like an odd comment from Morgan, but at the same time it's almost impossible to find a college QB declaring for the draft to have less physical ability than BY so you can assume almost anyone you bring in would be your go to QB sneak/designed run guy.
    • Gronk is the best TE of all time, but he also played with Brady. Clarke was great, but had Peyton and in an era TE's didn't make crazy money. Kittle is great, but the two times he's made the SB, he was still on his rookie contract for one, and the other the 49ers had Purdy on a cheap rookie deal which help them build the rest of the roster. So again, it's not about not wanting an elite TE, of course it would be nice.  But realistically, in today's NFL, unless that elite TE with a top end TE salary is on a team with a GOAT level QB and/or other serious cap savings (i.e. key players on rookie deals), then I think it's not a good use of cap space.
    • This place was the poo pre tepper with tons of hilarious posters like phillyB. Joined in the 2000s during the 07 season and have been here bitching about this team since. but yeah its sadly been dying a slow death, every time I come to this site I am surprised its still up. I think the 2015 season was the absolute peak, the Panthers and this board especially just haven't "felt" the same since then. Igo should really sell the board since he clearly doesn't care anymore. Also, Reddit blows and the Bryce defenders on there need Jesus.
