The starters did got play enough in the preseason. They just are not prepared mentally and physically for week 1.  This is a pattern with Tepper, Morgan, and Canales.

Canales doesn’t instill enough discipline and the team has a serious lack of focus.  He’s always so positive it gives a false sense of where we are with this rebuild. We are a 4-6 win team…again.

T-Mac is a very good receiver, but we should have taken that LB from Georgia. We’ll just end up having to trade T-Mac away in a year or two because we can’t win games with the weaknesses in the middle of our D.

Same old story…can’t stop the run, no pass rush, lack of execution when it mattered on offense.

It’s not like we expected a playoff team, but the f-ing JAX players were literally laughing at us. Laughing AT us.

Let’s see where it goes from here. On offense the problem was lack of preparedness and execution.  On defense the problems are systemic. Evero just is NOT a good DC.

They should fire him and hire and interim DC.

You mean the guy that had a 2 tackle game today??

LMAO

He literally does nothing well. Like....nothing.

How long do we need this project to last? Until he is 28?

I hate to be that way about a guy with a season and a game but JFC, he can't do the simplest poo.

For me it’s the small but dumb mistakes

Not getting his other foot down, catching a 5 yard pass and then running back to the LOS to end up with a 1 yard gain.

Its maddening to see an NFL WR make the mental mistakes he makes, and that’s before you get to his limitations as an actual pass catcher.

This is why I grind my teeth at him basically being the "face" of this franchise. How about.....BE GOOD AT FOOTBALL AND NOT SOCIAL MEDIA?!!!

He had a 4th down throw away his rookie year, too. I don’t get it. He looked timid again. Something about these off-seasons seem to have him so in his head. His mental is fugged, I think.

The league is BIGGER than him, literally and figuratively.

The first thing that came mind to me… the team looks like they don’t even practice together! Horrible tempo, absolutely inexcusable QB play, terrible tackling, terrible time management. Same thing, different year!

- This is the only game I will give Bryce a pass on. I still want to believe in him and a lot of teams opening week dont look good. But he made mistakes that impacted the game directly. Intereception turned into 7, fumbled ball missed on a field goal opportunity, underthrown ball to Renfrow was a easy 7 but had to settle for FG. 4 and Goal throw away??? What was that..

- I dont care what anyone says at this point, Wallace is not the answer at LB and Rozeboom is an unathetlic depth ILB at best.

- Moehrig had a lot of tackles, but I saw him out of position a lot and missed tackles in key spots. Not a good first impression for me

- Chubba is are best and most consistent player, again. He deserved his money

- McMillan is a #1

- We cant stop the run

- We have ZERO pass rush

- Evero needs to go!!

- Legette is still incredibly raw..

Why are you giving him a pass? …. Have you not watched him these last couple seasons? He’s a bust

This is the worst defense in the league without question.

im also not sure this isn’t the worst offense in the league.

this team will be a sub four win team with a new quarterback next year and a coach who will be on the hot seat (which is a disastrous combination that will lead to another five years of failure)

we are what Cleveland was to the prior generation. The panthers are now the Browns.

*Positives*
-NALO looks the part of a #1 receiver who is hungry.
-Line looked OK besides corbett who needs to be benched...immediately
-Jaycee is still a beast even without pass rush
-Chuba deserves every penny
-Kicker made his kicks and didnt fug up kickoff like Jax

*Negatives*
-Corbett is dogshit.  Absolute waste of a roster spot
-Bryce....jesus fuging christ...have you ever played decent in the first week of any season ever?
-We suck at stopping the run with guys who are known to stop the run...time to start looking at the guy making the calls maybe?
-XL...my fuging god, if I call out that egregious BS one more time Im gonna be nauseous.  Our QB sucks and you do him no favors by somehow sucking more...cmon.  I love this guy so much, wish he wouldnt suck.
-Dowdle didnt look great, IMO, etienne looked better.

By week 3 or 4 this team will finally be good enough to play against teams in week 1 of the season.

Legette isn’t raw. Legette isn’t a WR. He can’t catch. He’s so worried about catching the ball that he’ll never be able to worry about his feet at the same time. He has zero awareness out there.

Dan trading up for Legette a year after this team drafting Mingo is insane. They’re the same damn player.

    • If we pay Bryce like a franchise QB we're completely and utterly buttfuged.
    • In my view, the realistic expectation for this team to compete will start 2027.  At that time, I think we could be looking at the following (this is HIGHLY speculative):   QB:  You know, Bryce.  I am not a fan, but they don't ask me.  But there is reason for hope--and here it is.  Bryce will be entering his prime.  Since we are likely to pay him, there will be changes that I include throughout this exercise--I realistically speculate on what they are going to do with Bryce and then I realistically speculate on what means in terms of the cap and other positions. Bryce HAS IMPROVED.  The idea is that if you give him more weapons and protection, that will continue.  His career:   At this rate, if his growth continues, by 2027 we should expect nearly 30 TDs and about 12 Interceptions and a Rating of about 98.  His completion percentage should settle at 65-66% or so.  If that happens, you can win with it. The following stats demonstrate how the Panthers will be able to afford it (and re-sign Ickey) My guess is they will require about $60m per year. This is why rookies who can play are important.  It also helps us see the blueprint.  You may disagree, but this is the cruel realities of the salary cap. Robert Hunt:  Cut post June 1 and save $19m.  Who do you replace him with?  Ickey. Tershawn Wharton:  Cutting him saves nearly $15m.  We should all hope to see Aaron Hall (UDFA) make the roster and play well.  Regardless, this is a position we would likely have to address in the next draft. Trevin Moehrig:  Cutting Moehrig as the starting SS saves this team $16.5m.   Ransom will be on year 3 of a cheap rookie deal and should be more than ready to take the reins.  their styles are similar.  Furthermore, FS Wheatley (R, 4th round) will be starting. Taylor Moton:  So much depends on his knee, but I have an idea that he can play another 3 years.  extending him could save the team about $5m per year.  Cutting him outright would save the team about $21m. In the most drastic situation, we have to cut Moton and the other three players mentioned.   We would need (in all likelihood) a starting DT and RT.  It is possible that the DE would be addressed, but Wharton's production (so far) could be equaled by a rookie.  Look for a cut free agent and a 2027 draft pick here.  If you cut Moton, you save $21m, and that would be the only big hole to fill.  Having Ickey at RG gives you some depth at T, and Ickey could be the guy.  T could be pick in the 2027 draft (first round), fwiw.  It saves you $21m while costing you $5m, for example. We get younger, creating a core of Freeling, Hecht, and the RT first rounder in 2027) along with Ekownu (second contract in the $15m range, and Lewis, whose contract would be in the $16m range if not extended.)  The OL cuts (Hunt, Moton) would save $40m.  The OL would get younger and still solid with veterans at G.   By cutting Wharton (no brainer if his play stays the same) and Moehrig (good player--but we have Ransom on a rookie contract who would not be that much of a drop off--if any) in addition to Hunt and Moton, we would save over $70m in cap room. We would be able to give Bryce bag  and we would have enough to re-sign Ickey (if the knee is not too risky) to a Guard contract (probably at a discount, coming off that injury).  Furthermore, we could add a RT in the draft (or a RG if Ickey moves to RT) and that would be the only large hole to fill. Correct my logic if you see issues-- On defense, in addition to the aforementioned, Scott ($2m contract) is out, replaced by a 4th round rookie contract. CB Jackson's contract ($7.8m) expires and he is (possibly) replaced by a rookie contract.  At Edge, patrick Jones II's $10m contract expires and he is likely a reserve, and his role is absorbed by Phillips, Scourton, Princely, and possible an UDFA like Isaiah Smith or a 2027 draft pick.   These productive developmental players over the past 2 drafts will pay huge dividends.  On paper, I see the team getting much younger and possibly better while cutting nearly $100m and reallocating that money to get more production.
    • If everything played out and that last thing happened, I probably just quit.
