Worst Defensive Pressure Grades Week 1 - Guess Who's #1?

As we continue to trot our known failed experiment in Ejiro Evero as our DC, it comes to focus that this defense is supposed to be retooled and ready to make an impact. With the $$$ invested, you'd think this defense would at least be half decent, right?

Well, guess who's number 32 in the league in defensive pressure despite the $$$ poured on the dline?

Oh yes, Evero's defense:

How this bum DC hasn't been fired to the moon yesteryear is beyond me.

I really don't know what Evero's supposed to do about the fact that we haven't hit on a pass rusher since Burns was picked six years ago. All of our resources have gone into the offense for the past few years. The FA money was to fix the run defense. The second-rounders are still rookie second-rounders.

Last year's defense was among the worst ever. It's not getting fixed overnight.

Replacing Evero goes without saying. But we victimized ourselves by forcing him to stay on orders directed by David Tepper.

David Tepper is hands off now. & Dan Morgan makes all the football related descions.

when I hear that all the time  I am like oh my goodness do u actually expect me to believe that BS

David Tepper has constantly year in & year out since he bought the team hired the wrong people & will continue hiring the wrong people as long as he is the owner

luck takes you only so far in the NFL

And honestly, Burns was all hype and little production. Folks loved him because of the Spider-man celebration. He was lousy in run containment and only could generate pressure in one-on-one situations with bottom half of league level OTs.

Ask the Giants how good he is... they'll only tell you the truth if they aren't trying to trade him.

The problem is that the run defense isn't fixed. They ran roughshod over us yesterday. They did anything they wanted to whenever they wanted to.

    • thats fair.   I was beginning to think rookie punter was in the plans
    • Sam Martin   CARPunter#6 Panthers re-signed P Sam Martin to a two-year contract. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Martin’s deal is up to $5 million. Martin joined the Panthers last season on a one-year deal and wound up booting 56 punts for an average of 47.2 yards per punt. Martin is a 13-year vet of the league who has spent time with four different franchises. He landed a career-best 48.2 percent of his kicks inside his opponent’s 20-yard line last season.
    • Surprised CB is that low.  19th is odd spot. For many recent drafts, teams only felt there were around 14 first round players.  So to many 19 is just an early second and doesn't hold the value of a first.  If you go off- the smart path of LT, QB, edge, WR, CB, etc. Whatever your OG, Safety, ILB, etc needs to be a difference maker, that's the key point. I've said the 8th best edge is better than the 1st safety. Same for QB and even WRs. You should 100% factor in position value.  MHS you've been wanting a FS, let me tell you its super difficult to be a difference making FS. You're just sooo farrrr away from the action and the end result most times. If you're in the play, defense made mistakes in order. Now to talk out of both sides, maaaaaann that white boy from Oregon....I thought he crushed the combine and honestly that alone made me rethink "is he worth 19 now?!?!" he's now in the discussion for me, but still below others.    Plus I feel TE is vastly underrated in value terms. But looking at the last 20 years of TEs in the first, its down right bad. You're better like X10 better drafting one in 4th or 5th.
