The fallacy in this is you're comparing Bryce's "what ifs" against others "actuals". You would need to give every other QB all the same breaks. Herbert probably had 650 yards and 5 TDs by these metrics

Same thing I was thinking as I was reading it.  It’s a completely one-sided argument, and is in actuality, full of emotion - and that emotion is, “Bryce is good.  I promise.”  Blaming Hunter for not coming down with those two horribly placed throws is downright insulting.  He had to make a superhuman effort to even get his hands on them because they were so poorly placed…  and this PFF coverage completely disregards objectivity for subjectivity in his favor, because on the opposite end of this spectrum, it should be acknowledged that had those balls been better placed, Renfrow has 2 easy TDs.  Instead, this is framed like it’s Renfrow’s poor play is the result he dropped a couple of highly contested, damn near uncatchable thrown balls (even if he was wide open) for lesser yardage than what they would have been if they were thrown better.  This reeks of bias.  I am convinced Tepper or someone in Bryce’s camp is paying for this biased, pro-Bryce campaign from PFF.  PFF were the ones pushing how glorious that end of season run was and inventing statistical categories that Bryce dominated in upon his return.

I mean there's already a thread for the Bryce Young excuse party using these cherry picked PFF metrics, but here's my response.

How many games does Bryce post abysmal stats and lose the game until it's his fault? He's 6-23 as a starter and regularly posts stat lines that look like a third string emergency QB until some garbage time pads his stats.

Bruh there’s like 10 Bryce Young sucks threads if we want to get into how many threads each side has to discuss in. That said, watching the game, Bryce Young looked bad.

There's no reason to defend Bryce given its his third year in the league.

We've already given him grace on two seasons. If he isn't the guy that's holding the offense together than he isn't the guy.

I agree he didn't look as bad as the fanbase says he was; but he doesn't deserve us defending him either. I'm a Bryce homer too, I think he'll bounce back, but if he's going to be Jekyll and Hyde as QB, then that's where the ceiling is on the team too.

Worst part about this is that we know Bryce's mental is already fragile. Canales needs to find a way to keep him focused and get out of this funk or otherwise it's going to be a very long season.

Yeah, I'm thinking Eric Eager + David Tepper are the ones.

There is the concept of dealing in fairy tales and then there is dealing in real world realities. You cannot come away thinking Bryce Young is anything but one of the worst starting QB's in the league if you are basing your conclusion on verifiable data across all of his 31 career games that lines up with what you are seeing with your own two eyes if you are dealing in a reality based discussion. It is that simple.

I guess you can parse data however you want to make a point but the fact is that Trevor Lawrence is a middle of the road (15 or 16) QB and he looked like a Hall of Famer compared to Bryce.

Lawrence has the potential to be a Top 8 QB year in and year out though. He's got the arm, he's got the measurables, he's a leader, he's got the athleticism. He may not be Allen but he could pull off Herbert pretty well I think.

One of those passes almost got him killed!  I’ve never seen a human get folded like an omelet and bounce back up like that.  Bryce was trying to put him in the hospital!  The 3 yard throw to a running back was the hardest pass I’ve ever seen BY try to make, it was coming at him 100 mph, high and behind him lol.  I just love these excuses.  These people obviously did not watch the game

Bryce played bad on Sunday. I understand a lot of teams have bad Week 1s so comparing a bad QB play across the league might make it look more normal. The issue with this is a lot of these other QBs have way more games of solid QB play so they are looking more like a typical week 1 outlier. Bryce doesn’t have that luxury right now. He can still turn it around but it needs to be done sooner vs later. He controls his own destiny this year.

I’m sure it’s just a random coincidence that the Carolina Panthers employ a bunch of PFF folks  to help build the roster (brag about it) ….and PFF just happens to be giving illogical ratings to our starting QB.

you can conspiracy theorize that a couple different ways….but it sure seems like there could be odds our guys at BOA are just getting a solid done for them by their people at PFF to spin their poor decision at QB (and QB is what makes are breaks most folks).  OR….PFF is just bad and we now are making decisions of th-5 exact poor logic.
