Bryce Young is a problem — what would you do if you were Dan Morgan?

That would be pretty stupid to willingly forego any potential return simply to have the personal satisfaction of firing a player you don't like.

It's not personal satisfaction because I don't like him. It's sending a message to every player, coach, etc. that if you perform like absolute poo consistently you will lose your job, period, end of story no excuses and no draft pick pedigree, etc. will save it. The fact that we went into this season with Bryce being plan A, B and C at the most important position on the team says it all about the culture of this team currently. Need a HARD reset, ASAP. But Morgan and Canales won't be the ones to do that.

Realistically, though... what return.

Honestly, I'd be willing to give up the 6th round pick we could hope to get for Bryce at this point just to see Tepper take the big bite of humble pie that releasing Bryce would be. For the long-term health of the franchise, you must admit that visible display of Tepper admitting that he fugged up and should stay out of football decisions would be monumental.

If it weren't for the egos of the people who would have to make this decision, this would absolutely be the move.

But admitting you traded multiple firsts, and passed up on Stroud for a #1 overall pick that couldn't even play his way through 3 NFL seasons? That would take a level of humility that our brain trust are just not capable of.

Yep so instead they double down on their stupidity and we all suffer.

If you bench him, you’re trotting in Dalton who was absolutely terrible after his first chunk yardage performance last season.  He has also had a lot of random injuries and is getting up there in age.

So you really just have to keep playing Bryce unless you’re willing to trade midseason. But if you make a trade for some mid backup talent, like let’s say Brandon Allen, it’s a sign you’re looking at the exits and you have to commit to being done with Bryce.

So I say you ride him out.

Scenarios:

1-He has a unprecedented turnaround

2-He does pretty bad but never so awful that we can’t finish the year. Spirits stay aight until late in season. We trade him in the offseason for a late rounder. Draft or Sign our new QB (or both)

3-He does so bad, Dave loses the locker room and we need to make a drastic move. We bench, try Dalton, trade/sign a backup plan, he eventually gets cut if not traded

Going 0-17 with or without Young is an entire pie, not a bite. Never turn down any return if it's the best return.

I would not matter either way.

If they sit him then he will get to meh again. It's motivation, time for thr team to gel with more competent play at QB and he is good in practice. That's how you end up with the dummies in charge picking up his 5th year option and us doing the exact same BS for 3 years in a row.

A source familiar with the team’s decision to move on from an employee confirmed that Charlie Rock, the team’s football communications coordinator, is no longer with the organization.

The team didn't fire him. He fired himself. Kind of like -- never mind.

I do not think they will pick up his option as it stands right now. If he's benched again he will have to compete for a backup role if he's not traded before he reaches the end of his rookie contract.

If he is benched I would expect a repeat of last year. As for what those people will do well they set it up again this year thr same way so it shows intent of repeating. If I see Young sat then I fear we are going down that road. Nothing the people in charge has done this year leads me to think anything has really changed...yet

    • I don’t know about floor in a team defense sense but we needed more.  The floor that I am familiar with is our QBs floor and it is so low that every other part of the team needs to be beefed up.     We tried our best to improve these things and I think we did improve the defense and we at least kept the offense  from sinking from no LT.  And ostensibly helped the receivers too.   So we kept a window open that we at least have a chance to improve our record by a game of two.  Which would probably give us the division.

    • Yeah. I am one of. those who think a JAG RB can eat with really good blocking. (Brooks is most important in my mind, in tbe passing game and that is what we’ll lose without him)  There are a lot of aspects to this. The big one that caused us to struggle is Young and his arm scared no one.  Best back, best blocking still cannot defeat a really good defense if they are not forced to respect the pass.  And teams did not.    But, a strong OL and running game Can get us over against weaker defenses.  And if Bryce still doesn’t scare anyone we can still win some games. Like last year  So it is really important to tend to that OL.   Get that straight and see if in his fourth year he can finally back defenses off. That is what if is all about this year to me, on the Bryce front.
