New York Times: Is Panthers QB Bryce Young a Lost Cause

Recommended Posts

The camel’s back met the last straw.

Is that an Athletic article? That would be Person, at least contributing probably but likely him.

fuging Captain Obvious with that losing record quote. Man, I had Young off of my draft board because of his measureables and when it got really hot and heavy I looked at his video and he was still off my board.
I can’t help but believe there were teams that felt the same.

What was it about this week that made so many finally turn on Bryce?  For whatever reason, it seems like the Patriots game was a turning point for many.

Pretty understandable tbh.

Game 1 - Not good by any stretch. Game 2 - Terrible for one half, decent for another. Game 3 - Well, he didn't need to do much, but we won! Game 4 - He legit was just missing people left and right. He threw the ball into an opponents facemask. Dirted another 4th down ball. Just never gave his receivers a chance.

A lot of us were pretty negative about his ability to handle pressure (not just the blitzing kind), and he's just shown that he is basically 'just fine' when everything is going right, but can't elevate anything around him. So... We got our answer.

It was the culmination of many things like over throws, dirt balls and 3th down passes to wtf knows. The last straw was the final 4th down pass that sailed over the bench to god knows who.

Bryce plays to not die. The only defenders who don’t outweigh him by 100 pounds are corners, safeties and some LBs. think about that. EVERY lineman he sees every week has at least 100 on him. Broski is just trying to live out his last days in the NFL and not sustain a life altering injury.

Similar to XL, Bryce has his money, just a WHOLE lot more. He’s set. Barring financial insanity, he’ll never have money problems. He knows he’s not cut out for this line of work. He lacks the tools and besides that, has no dog in him.

But the 2025 reviews are not favorable, according to a coach, an executive and a scout who have studied Young’s performances this season. He has been downright “awful” at some points during the Panthers’ 1-3 start, according to one evaluator who was granted anonymity so he could speak openly about another team’s player. He’s looked uncomfortable in the pocket, struggled to see the field, lacked anticipation and failed to be consistently accurate.

“I don’t think he’s the guy,” another evaluator said.

Yikes.

Yeah he is playing not to get hit. It showed in the preseason too
He really must not like that stepping into the throw and paying the price to make the play thing very much

Yup. Physics is just not on his side. How he managed to con his way in to the starting QB of THE college football program in the country, playing under the greatest college FB coach of all time… And then double down as the first pick in the draft?!? My God man.

Everyone fugged up in the FO that had anything to do with drafting him. They should all lose their jobs and find another line of work instead of talent evaluation.

I know you were down on him from the start. You and a few others. I didn’t want us to pick him, but got on board. Halfway through his first season, my eyes were telling me he’s not it. I was ready to move on. It didn’t take a lot of the huddle that long to realize we might be looking for a new QB soon lol, but the huddle has been pretty spot on for much of Teppers tenure. I still feel if the huddle was in charge of the draft, we’d be ok.

The writer of this article is Jeff Howe, a patriots beat writer.

he was probably just watching the game and was like “oh fug this dude sucks.”
