I would always keep RB on the radar in the mid to late rounds. My goal at RB is try to get as much production out of rookie contracts as possible and avoid paying them.

If they have assurance they can resign Rico

Chuba on the season has played in 6 games and has 282 yards that's 47 yards a game and that was the easy part of the schedule if you extrapolate that for the remaining 9 games that's 705 yards on the season. 

He's a good rotational back but if you can get some compensation via a trade then go for it.

Canales was out here handing out participation trophy in the National Football League and some fans were echoing it, "he wanted to give Chuba a chance to win his starting job back."

The way it works usually when a starter gets injured amd comes back he's giving the starting role back because it's assumed he's better than the backup filling in. There's no way based on Chuba's play before the injury and afterwards (Jets game) Canales or anyone else thought Chuba gave us the best chance to win against Buffalo whereas he got the most snaps and the most carries in the game.

I like Chuba, but I don't imagine I'd regret trading him while he had value. 

If you use this logic only half the teams in the NFL have a NFL caliber running back.. In 2023 12 RBs rushed for over 1000 yds, in 2024 there were 16.

A RB now has to have 60 yards a game to get 1000 yards on the season. It's not as hard to get to anymore but a lot of teams are also doing RBBC so there aren't as many bell cow backs any more.

doubt Morgan would trade one of the dawgs that he's building around.  And if it is a 4th, it will be a late one.  But we'd save over 20 mill on the cap which we could spend on Rico.

I wouldn't do the trade unless we work out a deal with Rico ahead of time, and on a similar contract with Chuba.  Incentive laden but still a reward for his accomplishments.  Our line will be healthy again next year, and we have that mystery back that we spend a second (!) on who may finally be healthy next year.  

   Too many signs point to no trade.  But I'd do it under those conditions.

I'd be open to trading Chuba but not for pennies on the dollar. 

The max we'd be offered is like a 4th or a 5th and that's not enough especially with the dead cap we'd have to eat if we did trade him. 

Chuba ran for 1200 yards last year and has been solid the years before that and I don't think we should just give him away for nothing. 

Now if a team like the Pats come forward with a real offer, I'd be open to listening.

      Brother. You are wholly confusing comparing situations and applying actual standards like most other franchises do like simply getting into a playoff series and winning at least 1 or 2 series games with praising. Nobody is praising the Hawks. Nobody is praising the Magic. Nobody here likes those teams. But reality is reality. The Hawks like other franchises have traded players fired coaches etc but they can still win a couple playoff games. How is that not the bare floor for you or anyone else? What are we doing here if it isn't? We've seen eye to eye on many things over the years. But you are in the camp on the Hornets where you are emotionally attached to LaMelo where you feel the need to carry his water like he's got that juice. That's cool that you feel that way. It's your prerogative. But I differ from that viewpoint entirely. If he had that juice we would not have gotten wiped off the court in 2 play in games with 2 different coaching staffs and rosters. if people don't like hearing that well I'm sorry but how the hell is this team ever going to get better and ultimately go anywhere in the postseason if we just blindly pat them on the back for getting their asses whooped before they actually even get into the real playoffs? There seem to be some Bryce Young level standards being applied here. That's wild to me. But to each his own.

      Proctor/Freeling were always the belles of the ball where we were picking. What those two *could* become at OT was far greater than what others could be at their respective positions and I’m glad our FO could see that.
