Its not that, its the overall cap situation if something were to go sideways in the next 2 years we might be stuck unless of course we kick the can down the road again

Wed all love to open up the settings and turn off injuries.  That’s the name of the game; calculated risks and the free market.  Obviously we don’t want to make cavalier mistakes all nimbly wembly.

We haven’t seen anything too egregious and it appears the FO has a plan and is executing it.

The players are vehemently against it for obvious reasons and a lock out is probably coming after this season

Yeah, I don’t understand why the players are against it, yet they bitch and moan when the Dodgers and the Yankees and all the other big teams buy up all the superstars

They've needed a cap for years but the dodgers have made a mockery out of any competitive balance. Especially with all the deferred payments

Deferred payments always call Bobby Bonilla to mind. For the balance of his contract after his release, the Mets did a deferred payment. 1.2 mil per year, 2011-2035. I don’t think they owed him all that much.
The kicker is they invested the principle with Bernie Madoff.  Of course he stole it all.

The #49ers are poised to designate WR Brandon Aiyuk a Post 6/1 release in the coming hours. They'll carry his $14.6M cap hit into June, then take on dead hits of: 2026: $13,325,281 2027: $21,247,562 SF will also receive a $4.987M cap credit next season for having not picked up the 2030 option year.

The expectation is he'll sign with Washington for those few that wanted us to take a look.

Wait what?

Were there really people here who wanted us to go after a player coming off a missed season due to an ACL tear, that he was supposed to be back early in the season but didn't ever come back because he hated his team (even though they just gave him a big contract) and thus was lazy in his rehab from said ACL tear?!?!?!

I wouldn't even take him at a league minimum salary, just not a guy you want in the locker room with T-Mac and Coker.  We want them learning from hard working vets, not someone like Aiyuk who is a locker room cancer.

And I'll also fully admit I wanted us to try and trade for him when the 49ers had him on the market before signing him to the new deal.  But with how he handled that whole thing and then everything since then, it completely changed my opinion on him.

Are you really surprised? haha

Look at ohtanis contract. 68 of his 70 mill per year is deferred for a whole decade. Even with that the dodgers this year have a payroll higher than the bottom 4 teams combined. It's insane

Fans bitch and moan about that, not players.

As long as they're getting paid, they're happy.
