Make Yosh Nijman a good offer or not?

With Ickey out on a limb and possibly not playing in 26' (or not being productive), would you try to retain Nijman? Looked okay and I think he graded pretty high with limited playing time.

What u got?

Good question.  I would think they would prefer keep whatever continuity there is. I hesitate to assume what ‘good’ is or what he will think it is.
He is the floor for tackles on this roster and it seemed survivable with him in there.  I struggle to envision him as a starting LOT.

If the price is right, I think you have to have him back.  However, I am fairly confident that his agent knows the system.  Would a good rookie be better?  I really like the second round level rookies in terms of pass pro--not run blocking, however.  I could live with that, if better than Nijman.  Rookie OTs struggle--even the first rounders, so I would make sure we have some backup options.  With Christensen's injury,  I do not see the Panthers getting out of free agency without Nijman, frankly.  Free agency is not loaded w  starting LTs.

Rest in Heavenly Peace to my beloved former boss Bob Barker. I am so grateful and honored to have spent 10 years on The Price is Right as the first African-American model

Yes, he was serviceable when called upon.  I think he also benefited greatly from some stellar play by Damien Lewis.

I honestly might be willing to overpay Yosh a little to keep him. Versatility to play LT or RT (even though he is a much better RT in my opinion) while also having great durability, as he has either missed very few or zero games due to injury in his career. That is the type of depth that is very underrated

Honestly, he's worth keeping and he's a known quantity, possibly one on the upswing. And isn't he capable of swinging to either tackle position?

Given that, I'd make him a good but moderate offer. We may need him at either spot as a starter during the season, and probably at LT for the start. That's not going to be easier to fill than making use of the guy already on our roster who knows and has played alongside the other linemen.

And his performance in games here was passable or better.

Do we still draft someone for Tackle? Oh yeah. Always be building the line.

I definitely wouldn’t overpay. He’s an okay fill in, in my opinion he looked better at RT when filling in than LT but if he is willing to come back at a fair deal you absolutely have to. I wouldn’t count on him anything other than depth, he has proven throughout his career he can’t be depended on to be a full time starter. The plus is that he already knows our system.

I'd offer him a decent salary on a 3 year deal that's front loaded, or a 1 year deal that's higher $$ wise because he's likely more important to us than anyone else this coming year.

Doesn't keep us from drafting an OT either way IMO, and we cover our asses in FA and see where the draft/Ickey's rehab lands.

Unless this team plans on overpaying for Rasheed Walker who in my mind is the only long-term starting LT option in free agency then bringing back Yosh is a must.

We have no depth at the tackle spots and with Ickey's and Brady's injuries plus Moton's chronic knee troubles we need to bring in at least 3 tackles this offseason.

Bring back Yosh plus another vet OT and take 1 in the draft. Let Yosh, another vet, and our highly drafted rookie battle it out for the starting LT job in camp and let the best man win.

Ickey struggled early on his rookie year so having a vet option or 2 on the roster to turn to would be wise.

I'd also like us to bring back Corbett at center as he'll likely come back for the vet minimum, and I wouldn't be shocked if Cade Mayes got a really expensive deal on the open market. Some team that loses out on Tyler Linderbaum is going to overpay Cade Mayes.

If you want to pick in the top 5 next year and possibly with a brand new head coach then by all means trot Yosh out there as your starting left tackle.

He is a lesser version of Icky.  Decent in the run game but absolute ass in the pass game, he is too big and slow to navigate pass rushers

Not sure there is a ton of support for Nijman starting at LOT. I hope.
I don’t know about picking top 5 off just that but it wouldn’t be anywhere close to ideal and would be an issue in most matchups.
