The future for Pickles/Ostrich Boy

No reason to sell low on the guy.

If he is capable of making the throws in Chud's offense, why not keep him around as a back up the next few years? He's cheap. He had high marks. I think he should stick as the long term backup.

Why do we have to get rid of him.

Because he's hated by this fanbase. Even though he was thrown into a shitstorm of fail he's receiving all the blame.

Honestly at this point it's best for both parties if he leaves in the off season. He's never going to be accepted here.

What if Chud and Shula can make him into something? Look what they have done with Cam. If they can keep tutoring the kid, he might be an ok backup. It will only raise his value and then maybe we could get something for him.

The only way to showcase him, is for something to happen to CAM. IS THAT WHAT YOU WANT? Cut-em loose, let him catch on with another team, maybe he can become a starter. I could also quit drinking, realistically, neither will happen.

Remember, coach went with DA (who will be a UFA in March) last week in garbage time when he could have given Jimmy some reps. To me that is telling about his future with this team.

edit: Clausen was inactive yet again so he couldn't be the #2. Even more telling to me however about his future

Jimmy isn't that bad of a quarterback he was just a rookie put into a bad situation. With a change of scenery and a new coach jimmy could end up being a quality backup. I hope he has a career turnaround somewhere else

Steve Smith has gone out of his way several times to endorse Jimmy this year.

According to him, Jimmy's come along and if it weren't for Cam, we'd all be talking about all of the good thing Jimmy's doing.

So either Jimmy's worth keeping around or Smitty's full of sh*t

    • Bryce hasn't done a single thing to prove he deserves to have his option picked up.  I'd have less of an issue with us declining the option and bringing him back as the starter next year than I would have us picking up that option, as that means he's on our cap books for the next 2 years instead of 1, even if he's cut before year 5. Tua threw for 3,500 yards with a 25-8 TD-INT ratio in just 13 starts the year before they picked up his option, and then threw for over 4,600 yards before they gave him his extension. Kyler threw for 3,722, 3,971, and 3,787 in 16, 16, and 14 games (while rushing for 544, 819, and 423 in those seasons) before they picked up his option and then signed him to an extension before year 4. Jones threw for 3,200 yards with a 3-1 TD-INT ratio with another 700 yards and 7 TDs rushing in year 4 before they signed him to his extension. Bryce has thrown for 2,877 and 2,400 yards in 16 and 12 starts his two seasons, while being on pace for 3,128 yards in a 17 game season so far this year. The closest comparison to any of them was Jones, who while he's turned it around this year, is someone I think everyone can agree was not a player who deserved that extension after that season. If people think those other QB's having their options picked up and/or given extensions were a mistake, in what world can you look at what Bryce has done and make any rational argument for him even being brought back as our starter next year, let alone also picking up his option that would cost us about $27 million fully guaranteed.
    • I don't think we would actually play Hooker but hopefully we also just don't see. I don't view Dalton/Bryce as a worse option than Winston/Howell. I just think we disagree on this specific subject is all.
    • I guarantee tepper would fire him if we lost out and he’d be justified
