Play GM: A 4th Round pick in Week 5 or 6 for Hakeem Nicks? Would you guys take it?

Nicks and Panthers agree to sign a three year extension with agent before we make trade. Giants lose Nicks after season anyway, season is over, we can get Nicks on a reasonable hometown discount before other teams bid on him driving his value up and we also get to use him the rest of this season, especially for the hard games. Nicks is back home and shows out. We don't have to worry about MISSING on WR in the 2nd or 3rd round and we have a 25yr old  #1WR for a while if he stays healthy. Sounds like fair trade? Would you guys like it? Loathe losing the pick (lets say conditional 3rd rounder if he plays in the playoffs (or if we dont actually have a 4th round pick this year, too lazy to double check))

Versus the 50 receivers who will be available after the season for no draft picks at all?  What are my other choices?  Gettleman has proven to be very good horse trader. With the cap being flat and so many guys coming up for free agency, I doubt we have to trade anything away to get a good receiver.  So far a guy like Ginn looks like a keeper. There will be plenty more like him available. Why would we not go for a receiver or two in the draft on a 4 or 5 year rookie contract instead of the money Nicks will ask.  If the Giants trade him it will be because they don't value him much.  Why should we??

    • You would hope so. I’m confused why the sports world seems split on Bryce when he’s obviously not working out.
    • So let’s do the reverse? Make everyone agree everything he does is a disaster? I also think the whole “gaslighting” is on the eye of the beholder. It went from he can’t avoid one single sack countered with he actually did that well Sunday (with data backing it) to a little breakdown of why he is so bad. People are going to have different opinions. I’m also not going to pretend this wasn’t happening Day one with this little QB.
    • All this great stuff he has done, how often does he do it?  I have it at three or four games out of 14 where he was very good and then you get a drive here or a series there where there are some good things. Here is the gaslight part: everyone has put him on a curve with his first year the baseline, neglecting to understand how bad he was then. Even if he comes back twice as good, where does that really leave him? 25th ranked or thereabouts.     He had so far to go, and still does, it is a Major ‘settle’ to accept his play as worthy of giving him our future.  You want to settle when the Bucs have Mayfield, and the Saints have overtaken us at QB? We will be third in the division at QB. That is good enough for y’all?
