Reports are surfacing from all over the place that there is a case of MRSA, commonly known as Staph infection, going around the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The NFL's Ian Rapoport reports that in addition to kicker Lawrence Tynes, guard Carl Nicks was diagnosed with MRSA on Thursday and cornerback Jonathan Banks was diagnosed on Friday.

Here's why you should care: the Eagles play the Buccaneers on Sunday. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the NFL Players' Association may recommend not playing the game on Sunday depending the outcome of a report on the MRSA containment of Raymond James Stadium.

Bucs GM Mark Dominik said they have a third case of MRSA. Team has been in contact with NFL and NFLPA.

With 3 known cases of MRSA among Bucs players and none known among 31 other NFL clubs, the team does not believe the workplace is unsafe.

NFLPA tells @wingoz that, depending on what MRSA containment report says, the NFLPA could advise Bucs-Eagles not to play this weekend.

nflpa may advise that the game not play this week in tampa...which would really suck for them because:

#Bucs game with the Eagles Sunday is a complete sellout, the team announced.

how often does that happen?

seriously, it's not a disease that you want to mess around with. lawrence tynes is out for the year and carl nicks is out indefinitely and it's probably going to be the same for banks and mrsa can do some real damage.

still, it's almost comical what's happened with that team this year. it would be a shame not to be able to capitalize on it.
