Hardy franchise tag and hurt the cap or FA DE signing...what you say?

I know most folks on here doubt DG would use the tag on Hardy and dump 12 mill onto the cap......would you be willing to offer 10 or 10.5 mill a year, front loaded contract for three or four years (word is he turned down 8 mill a year) and cut or restructure to keep him or take the alternative...sign someone like Jared Allen as a FA for less (maybe has a couple years left). Thnk we have to many pressing needs on offense to do this in the draft. This may be Hardys last regular season game in the black and blue so this is a relevant question. Hate to seem him go to the black hole in Oakland. Can we get this done?

Is it better for a player to take 10 million and stay on a defense where he has the chance for his name to be on Sportscenter over and over and over because of his exploits gaining him tons of endorsements?  Or is it better for him to make 12 million and go to a team where he will struggle for the next 5 years because of the double teams and be out of sight/out of mind?

We will have from February to next season to talk about this.

People are so used to having nothing to talk about but offseason moves this time of year so I think it's mainly just habit. People are still in playoff denial. If we win 4 more games we are the Super Bowls champions, fug the offseason and salary cap haha

Come on man 8 million a year still isnt enough...let him walk we cant hinder this team anymore than it already is by lucrative deals like the ones cj dwill and j stew got we need to think about the future cams deal is coming very soon

while we're at it why not let Cam and Keek walk, too?  Why hinder the team with lucrative deals?

cj's deal wasn't bad imo... we needed him

we need to pay our young stars, and hardy is one of them... but we're not gonna overpay him because DG doesn't seem to do that

    • Malcom Spence is the best player remaining, hope he’s there.
    • The era that you played in, and, more importantly, who you played with actually matters. Honestly, that's why these issues will be debated forever, as it's just difficult to say that this person or that person is better when you're discussing the passage of time. As for me, after Rice, Moss and maybe Megatron and T.O., there's probably a dozen or so guys that can be argued about to the cows come home. Personally, I'm not putting Fitz, Harrison, Johnson, Evans, or especially D-Hop, Jefferson, Chase or Hill definitely in front of Smitty (and Colston ain't even in the discussion). Context and all that stuff actually matters. Things like the triple crown matter.
    • Some of those guys? Yeah honestly you can.  I would 100% take Steve Smith over Larry Fitzgerald, Harrison, even Mike Evans. He is 100% a better player than those guys in his prime. If you look at the numbers Smith is historically under targeted in comparison to his contemporaries. He was only targeted 150 times or more only once in his career. Fitzgerald for example was targeted well above that 9 different seasons. Had Smith played with Peyton, Brady, Greatest Show on Turf, or even with Warner in Arizona he would broken records. His 2008 season was ridiculous accumulating 1400 yards in 13 games on less than 80 receptions. All time he also lost a season due to injury in 04, barely played WR as a rookie. Got robbed of 1k season with Clausen. Thats easily another 1800yds minimum that should have been tacked on to his #s. The only guys I’d say for certain are better than Smith are Rice, Moss, TO, Megatron, Julio Jones, Antonio Brown.
