Don't see us getting Torrey smith

$5 mil a year for him is too much in my opinion.  He's a solid #2, but he's a poor man's Mike Wallace and we see how it turned out when he went to a new team.

To be fair to Wallace, Tannehill was terrible throwing deep to him, and he's a deep threat. Actually had a lot of TDs this year considering his skill set. Now I wouldn't want us paying Smith $5M/year but he's easily worth that or more. I don't see us getting Smith either though so it doesn't really matter what he gets.

You could get the same production out of Brandon Tate and he is already familiar with our system.

Was just going to post something similar. I wouldn't go as far as saying Tate but there's guys in the draft that would bring what Torrey brings to the table for a fraction of the cost.

The only 2 guys I'd break the bank for are BeyBey and Dez. Both guys I expect will be back with their previous teams. This draft is once again deep on the offensive side of the ball as far as playmakers go, really hoping we end up grabbing more than just 1 this time.

We had success with rookies in 2014.  The draft is LOADED again at WR and Benjamin and Brown will not be rookies in 2015.  Expect improvement from them.  So why not save $5-6 million and go with another draft pick at WR since the pickings are good there?  Is the difference between Smith and a first or second-round rookie $6 million?  I bet not.

I think the draft has deep talent at RB, WR, DT, and to some degree, OT.

If I have a limited amount of $$, I am not going to spend it in an area where the draft is loaded, the draft that gives me the same (albeit inexperienced) player at 1/5 the cost.  I am spending the $$ where the draft is weak.   So, do not be surprised to see free agents here at DT, CB, and LB.  I think Gettlemen will bring in 2-3 OTs this year, hoping a free agent or a draft pick stick.

    • Great teams build through the draft and have several young players that start that are on rookie contracts. It's important to hit on players in rounds 4 thru 7.  These should be future starters and solid depth.  When you hit on most of your picks you free up a lot of cap space for those one- or two-year players to fill spots you are thin at. No GM is going to perfect on all their picks.  You're going to whiff every once in a while.  That was Hurney problem.  He'd nail the first pick but after that it was reach after reach and we couldn't get any depth on this team. I'm excited about Morgan as our GM and hopefully he'll be around a long time.  It will be even better if Canales can continue to grow as a head coach, both in the development of young players and play calling. I remember last season after Young came back in the lineup and started to perform well.  We saw different plays I had only seen other teams use.   If Canales's play design and play calling continue to grow. Morgan and Canales will be linked together for a long time.  It would be nice to see a Coach and GM together for a decade or two. Go Panthers
    • They also came out for the encore and the singers were dressed in canes jerseys. Pretty fuging cool.
    • She kicked ass. Obviously not the same but it’s an absolute pleasure to see this band live. What a great evening.
