J.Jones: Four players are on the roster bubble, need to play well

Corey sounded confident in the locker room after the game that his position was safe. I think he is on the bubble as far as being bumped down to third string,  but I can't see them cutting him.

He may be confident and should be considering he would keep himself ha-ha. I just wonder more Gettlemen and Rivera's feeling behind closed doors. Oh well if he balls out Thursday or keeps dropping that'll choose for them.

Brown needs to step up plain and simple.  His roster spot is not guaranteed or the reporters wouldnt say he on the bubble.  They obviously got that from someone on the staff.  Brown didnt really do that much last year to guarantee a spot this season.  THe NFL stands for not for long and that is the attitude people need to take.  If he knows his job is in jeopardy and he can't handle the pressure and folds again, then he doesnt have the mental toughness to play for us, plain and simple.  Everyone at this level has the talent to make a squad but it takes more than to be good enough to contribute significantly.  This is his job to lose.  Lets see what he does with it.

I for one hope he comes out and does great tomorrow.  And I would think that anyone who is a Panther's fan without an agenda would agree as well.

I'm surprised Amini is not also on the 'bubble'.  Has this guy even seen the field in preseason?  Perhaps he is a serviceable backup but I am not even sure of that.  He is has a lot of injury problem, and when was playing last season he was not very good.

I love Ginn, but he's a situational deep threat. Nothing more.

he is by far our best WR...so while he should be just a situational deep threat we will have to ask he be a straight up starter.

He basically already is what they hope Brown would be...

I agree with you Ginn is actually pretty good for us.  I think people see what he has done on other teams and assumes that is his potential.  He had his best season as a WR for us in 2013 and is picking up where he left off.  His speed makes corners play off him which opens up things underneath and across the middle.  When people play tight he and Cam will burn them for 7.  I think many folks really underestimate him

As Gettleman would tell you, you have no idea what you're talking about.

    • It’ll be interesting to see how the board falls I completely agree with you on TE for us The safety from Oregon would be the cherry on top for Evero’s defense/scheme.  If a OL’men is there that you love it would be very hard to pass up. This fan base seems to just see Walker as a stop gap but I wouldn’t be so sure. He’s the same age as Ekwonu. He’s had a much more impressive career arc/progression than Icky has. He’s the better pass protector. As far as I see it if Walker has a good year I’d bring him back over Icky. Ekwonu isn’t some elite franchise LT. Playing next to Lewis is going to be great for Walker much like it has been for Icky. We definitely need to get younger/cheaper on the OL though so for this reason alone it’s still top of my list come round 1 if board falls this way  Could also use another corner with Mike Jackson’s deal up after this season and needing a nickel but Corey Thornton looked really good in that role in the limited time we got to see him. However he’s coming off an achillies injury and you never know with those.  Then as mentioned above we do still have a need at WR. As far as “weapons” go it’s kind of a 2 man show with Tmac and Coker and neither is a burner. If Jordan Tyson is there at 19 and we can have a young WR group locked up for cheap that’s a huge advantage cap wise  And don’t forget linebacker. That clip in Devin’s Lloyd blueprint they used from Evero saying they need more intelligence there could’ve been left out for Wallace’s sake but it’s true. Wallace is lost in coverage. Pair a smart linebacker with Lloyd and that’s a group with Wallace and Cherelus being depth
    • The fact that this is even a discussion is a testament of the level of front office badassery that's going on.
    • Not always. LT was for the Giants. So was Ray Lewis. Von Miller was moreso than Manning his final year in the season that shall not be named. It's usually the QB, but not always.
