Wow: Norman tried firing his agent and signing the tender, but Gettleman had already rescinded

I've got an idea for all the Josh lovers, go get you a Norman Foreskins jersey and root for them this coming season.  We won't miss you as the Panthers spank that ass of every team.

You really shouldn't be telling anyone this. The first bit of adversity this team faces, you're ready to trade everyone or chalk up the season as a lost cause. We can expect your overreaction after the first preseason game.

Sit this one out, champ.

it just makes you the worst poster on this board.

That might be you. Sounds like I hit nerve about Norman and you decided to start something. Get over it dude, he's no longer on the team and I'm pretty sure you don't get paid one way or the other.

Itll be interesting to see if this is one of DGs first mistakes.

First mistakes? He's done some great things while he's been here, and he's also done some completely moronic things. That 3-8-1 start to 2014 was directly his fault. Gettleman thought Byron Bell and Nate Chandler was an acceptable tackle tandem, Gettleman signed Decoud and Cason, Gettleman cut Steve Smith and forced us to rely heavily on an unpolished rookie. The Hardy situation played a big part too, but other than drafting KB and Turner, Gettleman's 2014 offseason was an absolute blunder.

I love that Gettleman has gotten us out of a terrible cap situation and drafted well and built a good mix of talented youth and savvy veterans, but the idea that people on here think he's the primary reason that we made a Super Bowl this year is laughable. You look at our 8 best players from last year, which in my opinion would be Cam, Stew, Olsen, Kalil, Short, Luke, TD and Norman, all of them but Short were already here before Gettleman. We also already had a coach that's put together dominant defenses everywhere he's been with different systems and different levels of talent in different positions. Combine that with the most dangerous dual-threat QB to ever play the game and it's not hard to see why we've been good for the last 3 years.

Again, I love the guy and we're lucky to have him, but it blows my mind how people really think every move he's made has been a homerun and overvalue how much he's really been responsible for our success

Nah, but thanks for your opinion.

G-man wanted to start the rebuilding process this year.

G-man became convinced he had norman at best one year. So, G-man said what's better starting over now or waiting 24 months to do it. This agent didn't do his homework on G-man. G-man is going to do what is best for the team period.

All the agent had to do is convince g-man there was hope norman would have been there long term. It sounds like the agent tried to play a hardball game with g-man. G-man took the game and face value and did what he does best, he started finding new talent.

This agent sucks.

If me inciting enough people to trash you for the tantrum you throw every single time we miss a tackle is enough to compel you not to do it out of pride then I've gotten more than Norman has this week

The reason we got out of cap hell is because of what he did in 2014. The tag on Hardy in retrospect was horrible.  They wanted to keep that front 7 that won us so many games in 2013 together so it made sense. But 2014 could not be helped when we were purging contracts left and right and signing cheap players while veterans were retiring. We just lacked talent and the talented players we did have were young and still getting their feet wet.

and no I don't think he's perfect but he's general manager of the year for a reason.

    • okay I found this and it sounds like my hopes for the first surgery being not such a great job seems like it could be actual reality.  I only hoped because that would give a better chance for recovery and ia a possible scenario so I just thought it could be possible. Had no real evidence of it. But I’ll be damned.    This is a detailed report of Brooks’ surgery and the condition of his knee after the failed repair.     https://x.com/jmthrivept/status/2055743129408704806?s= Sparked by some very good questions by @CoachspeakIndex, here’s some info on Jonathon Brooks: 1. Speculation that the first graft/ACLR by Dr. Cooper didn’t “take” or at least was too lax, leading to failure and re-tear. Brooks dealt with issues cutting, progressing in his rehab into the early stages of 2024 and then re-tore it late 2024, requiring a second ACLR in January 2025 (essentially revision). Notably, CAR prolonged Brooks’ rehab process through Sept-Oct due to issues progressing into the next stages of rehab. 2. Second surgery performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache, who has extensive experience with revisions. He did a double bundle technique, harvesting graft from Brooks’ left patellar tendon and a strip of his right IT Band (his right patellar tendon had been utilized for the prior graft in 2023. The double bundle technique significantly increases rotational stability of the knee, leading to a stronger and more secure graft/reconstruction. Also to note, Brooks’ surgery wasn’t significantly delayed, meaning that the tunnels from his prior ACLR were in good shape and they didn’t need to perform bone grafts to fill in (would have delayed 2nd surgery by 5-6 months). Essentially, reading the tea leaves tells me that everything else except for the graft itself was still in good quality within his knee. Good sign for future.  3. Typically, you see a performance increase anywhere from 16-20 months post-revision. Brooks will be ~21 months out from his second surgery by the time Week 1 hits. His knee should be more stable and stronger this time around, with adequate time for healing and return to all movement patterns. I’m not viewing this situation as a typical “Player __ had TWO ACL tears, he’s cooked” situation. Rather, I’m viewing it as the first procedure failed, but the second procedure is significantly stronger and should allow him to return to form this time around. I don’t know why it posted as a link but there it is.
    • Jackie, any more reps tomorrow, or is that it for this session?  thanks for the work
    • How can you say they aren’t trying to win now with all the moves made in free agency? Or is trading first round picks the only way to be win now? I’d be fine never trading another first round pick again, win now be damned.
