Now imagine two of these guys next to eachother...

But one is all we need!  We needs more DE's cause the huddles resident GM's says so!

Seriously though, we just upgraded the pass rush big time.  I was more worried about the DT depth than the DE's.  I'm encouraged to hear big Dave say he has faith in the young guys so it seems they will get a shot to prove their worth.

If a hand full of these guys at DE and  "conner" take advantage of the opportunity that they have then I can't help but think this will improve the overall defense for a long time.

how do you game plan to stop that? teams had enough trouble with just one last year.

and then add in solid DEs we have (including the pass rush poential we have in delaire and also ealy (for whom i think the switch turned on towards the end last year).

and then add in the LB corps we have (including the potential we have as a pass rusher in cash).

a front and pass rush like this makes the job easy for DBs. our secondary will look good because of the pressure on the QB.

Provided that Kony continues his upward trend I think we'll be fine at DE

Kony would have had better numbers but they played Jared Allen more than they should have, IMO.

I agree---year 3 for DEs is when you see them.  But we have never had good DE play without solid DT play.

Now imagine a 6'1" CB with 33 3/8 wingspan, partnered with a 6'1" CB with the same wingspan.

Now imagine a 6'5 240lb WR with 34 7/8" wingspan, partnered with a 6'4" 232 lb WR with a 33 3/8" wingspan

Now imagine a 6'5" 255 lb TE, partnered with a 6'4" 253 lb TE with 34 1/4" wingspan.

Now imagine a 6'5" 250lb QB to lead that team.

I know Gettleman says he's a pass rusher and that man knows defensive linemen, but Short had 19.5 sacks and 49.5 tackles for loss while playing in the Big 10 vs. Butler's 5 sacks and 28.5 tackles for loss playing in C-USA. Butler may have a lot of potential, but Short was the far more productive college player and he did it vs. better competition.

I'm excited about Butler's potential, but I won't be surprised if he's a bust.

    • Reasonable. I mean I didn’t see a clear path to relief this season myself. As I have typed already, I think the QB FA class is more interesting next season and that draft is supposed to be stacked as well. There just weren’t many options this year.  When you have Tepper to contend with you have to tread lightly around this unless you are 100% certain and willIng to stake your job on it.   There were a couple of outings that helped Bryce a lot in terms of  thinking maybe he can do this, and if you are a supporter you are giving them a lot of weight. You are likely to think just get him some more help and he can do that every week. Which I think Tepper falls into that category.  And the playoffs, division champs, regardless of the way I see that, the supporters will also give that a lot of weight.    And the big one, the atmosphere In BOA for that WC game, Tepper had to be soiling himself over that. If you pulled Bryce out right now you had better be right and your new guy had better make the playoffs and look good doing it or you will be gone and your chance to build your old team back into respectability will be gone too.  So here we have Pickett on a one year deal, and Grier and King. I understand it.
    • Well, seeing as we play the Lions at home this year, pretty sure that rumor isn't true.
