What happened to Funchess?

My question isn't what happened to Funchess, but rather what did he ever do to make the Huddle think he was going to be so great? We had posters trying to argue he was as good or better than A.J. Green during the preseason.

I blame the media...

The dude was wide open on multiple ossacions last night.  He toasted his man in atlanta everytime he was out there.

The Anderson run fumble.  Funchess ran a quick slant and was wide open at the stick stop stood there.  Stared at Anderson trying to get his attention, then Anderson took off running his way.  Blows my mind.  After the 1st quarter Tampa knew we were only targetting KB and Olsen.  The int to KB, there were 3 guys around him because they knew who it was going to.  The endzone pass to olsen, the were 2 guys around him because they knew who it was gojng to.

He makes Keary Colbert look like Jerry Rice.  It remains to be seen how his career turns out but at this point I would rather have Tobias Palmer that tried out for our team over the summer.

Kerry Colbert was targeted, and dropped everything whenever he couod get open.

Funch has got open, but apparently wearing a transparent uniform where the QBs cant see

He was definitely worth 3 draft picks.

I wish Gettleman would start using the draft to properly stock a team. The future looks very thin.

You could have had Funchess in the late 2nd round with 1 pick. If Funchess is gone, then just pick another WR. It is not like Diggs, Coates, Conley, and Lockett were off the board.

8 to 10 picks a year, or you can watch the team decay from a lack of talent over the next 5 years.

The Panthers could have landed Andre Johnson and Anquan Boldin to back up the youngsters in KB and Funchess with Ginn as a situational threat. Philly Brown and Brenton Bersin need to go and never come back. If the Panthers have a 3rd down WR with Cotchery gone, it is Bersin. That is not good, and they do not use him on 3rd downs. They seem to be forcing Brown into that 3rd down WR position, but he is not consistent enough to take that role.

    • It goes deeper than that for me. When I started watching the Panthers as a kid I fell in love with Mark Fields’ story during that SB run. He wore #58. Then TD wore it and kept the tradition of the being the soul of the Panthers. The next time someone wears #58 I hope brings that same spirit
    • T-Mac is a nickname, Tet is a shortening of Tetairoa. Like you said below... your name is Jonathan, I could see "Jonny" being considered a nickname, but Jon isn't a nickname, it's a shortening of Johnathan, see the difference? And if your mom named you Jonathan for it's biblical significance/meaning, because she was very religious, I think it would be different. T-Mac is Polynesian, so much in their culture has deeper meaning for them, particularly names.  So for his mom to feel this way, I highly doubt it's just because she likes the name Tetairoa and not Tet, it's much more likely than not to be because the name itself has a deeper meaning in their culture.   Particularly as T-Mac himself has often talked about how much his Polynesian heritage means to himself and his family. And no, I'm not saying all this because of how much he's my guy, if he was just "normal american" and his name was Jonathan and he didn't like fans calling him Jon, I'd probably just say tough poo.  It's that he's Polynesian and I know things like names have a much deeper meaning in their culture than they do in ours for the most part. For whatever it's worth, a quick google search.......
