Rivera: CAP to start replacing CMC on passing downs

I heard the quote before reading this thread and had a totally different comprehension than most here.  Sounded more like CAP has been showing well in practice and deserves some snaps.  That makes total sense considering the struggles in the run game.  He's also a bit bigger than CMC so you can bring in CAP and motion CMC to the slot where he's been productive.  CAP can block if you need blitz pick up.  Key word being if there.  He can also carry the ball as well as be a pass option.  I'll bash Rivera for plenty, but I didn't understand his statement as CAP is the new pass blocker.  It's just we've asked CMC to do to much of it which is true.

They are figuring out that a 5'11" 205lb guy is a WR.

I'm 6'1" 230lb. That's still smaller than the LB's they got him trying to juke "in space". He's getting lit up, blown back.

In the NFL everything about CMC says WR. He's better against CBs and Safeties behind LBs .

...and we become more predictable.

I know everyone seems to be caught up in talking about our predictability based on downs but I’m thinking our personal groupings might be contributing to it also.

Would be really interesting to know what other defensive coaches thought about us.

No disagreement. I'm just saying that if he was a good receiver I have to imagine someone at Auburn would've figured t out. God knows Shula probably wouldn't.

Ha Guz the same man that Shula went and got some of his zone plays from..Guz only has 3 plays but uses different formation for them.. The only reason Auburn was good bc he recruited good atheletic guys to run those 3 plays..Your banking on the one guy.

The thing is it gives the defense a better chance at playing the odds that itll be a pass. Just like whenever Dickson is in the backfield, they can guess more likely than not that it will be a run. Or when we send Stewart out wide, we just let the defense know we're only going to be playing with 10 guys. We are so fuging predictable. Our coaches are so dumb, they can't even figure this out.

At the expense of getting pooed, everything about CMC is underwhelming.

We need to be honest with ourselves as fans.  He has the best hands on the team, is a solid addition, but is not some dynamic NFL RB.

I would be happy with him as a second round pick right now.

But the 8th overall pick in the draft? He just has not panned out as a value there whatsoever. (yet)

Exactly. And saying this doesn’t mean CMC is a bust. He was never worth the VALUE of that pick. Despite the crazy hype train on here and the media. Not when every other team is getting this type of player as an UDFA. CMC is Theo Reddick. Even a 2nd is stretching it. At least to this point.
