How long does it take?

Team up for sale after season ends (including playoffs)  Potential buyers are now getting ready.  Best case scenario...how long before an agreement is reached.  After all the legal and league stuff....what is the earliest the new ownership could be in place?

Will Hurney likely be drafting?

Team will run as usual til the sale. So we shouldn't see anything different.

Most likely will ask for bids in Feb. Most bidders will have everything ready due to advanced notice. Take a month to go over bids. Successful bid announced in March.  Owners vote at spring meeting. Sale finalized before the draft.

Im sure the deal would take to long.  The rest of the owners would have to vote plus lawyer stuff and paperwork.  Even if the deal got done before the draft, they would have to go through the GM search process.  Would probably be better to doafter the draft.

Well recently the Bills sold, and it was about 6 months after the previous owner died. Different situation of course and while the statement said the sale process won't begin at all until after the last game, it being announced early makes it more likely it'll move faster, with potential bidders being ready for when the sale process begins.

Bills sale timeline: Ralph Wilson passed March 25th, the deadline for the final bids was July 29th, Pegula's bid was accepted Sept. 9th, NFL owners approved the sale at their October 8th meeting.

So a little over 2 months from the final bids deadline. Our season will be over in February, probably less than 4 months for finals bids, I'm going to guess 2 months. That puts it at May/June. After the draft/offseason but before the next season. Though it could be quicker... Or not...

I believe all the owners would have to approve the sale so depends on their process the urgency.

If Panthers win the SB then the sales value goes up, which is a great thing for the NFL, JR & Team.

    • With the contract money an OT first rounder makes you can ALWAYS get a new girlfriend.  And probably an upgrade at that.  You only got 2 parents.
    • Brother. You are wholly confusing comparing situations and applying actual standards like most other franchises do like simply getting into a playoff series and winning at least 1 or 2 series games with praising. Nobody is praising the Hawks. Nobody is praising the Magic. Nobody here likes those teams. But reality is reality. The Hawks like other franchises have traded players fired coaches etc but they can still win a couple playoff games. How is that not the bare floor for you or anyone else? What are we doing here if it isn't? We've seen eye to eye on many things over the years. But you are in the camp on the Hornets where you are emotionally attached to LaMelo where you feel the need to carry his water like he's got that juice. That's cool that you feel that way. It's your prerogative. But I differ from that viewpoint entirely. If he had that juice we would not have gotten wiped off the court in 2 play in games with 2 different coaching staffs and rosters. if people don't like hearing that well I'm sorry but how the hell is this team ever going to get better and ultimately go anywhere in the postseason if we just blindly pat them on the back for getting their asses whooped before they actually even get into the real playoffs? There seem to be some Bryce Young level standards being applied here. That's wild to me. But to each his own.
    • Proctor/Freeling were always the belles of the ball where we were picking. What those two *could* become at OT was far greater than what others could be at their respective positions and I’m glad our FO could see that.
