If we lose on Sunday, will you consider this season to be a success?

Hell no. Take injuries out of the equation, we’re a worse team than we were last year. Shula shula’d, ron ron’d, we lost the best GM we’ve ever had (though I was lukewarm on him), we gained the worst GM we’ve ever had, it just wasn’t a fun year. The future is murky as f right now. The ownership change could very well end up being a very good thing, I expect it to be, but until the dust settles it’s stressful to think about. And until Hurney and Shula are gone, it’s not a successful season. We win the Super Bowl and obviously it is, but unlike other seasons I’ve considered “successful” when we didn’t win the Super Bowl I don’t feel optimistic about next year based on double digit wins and playoffs.

gettleman is the best gm in nfl history

Yes and no. A lot of young guys showed promise this season. Bradberry, Worley, and even Vernon Butler coming into their own and showing they might be long-term contributors on the defense. McCaffrey is already a key offensive player, Curtis Samuel and Damiere Byrd look like nice players for next season, and Daryl Williams shored up the RT spot.

But why I would say no, is that I worry there are too many key vets (Peppers, Davis, Kalil, Stewart, Olsen, Mike Adams) nearing the end of their careers, and if they don't make a run this season, there's too much uncertainty going forward with new ownership and the GM situation to bank on this kind of success next season and beyond.

I would have much rather sucked this year, got another high draft pick and fired Shula and possibly Rivera. I am okay with keeping Ron and seeing how we do with a new OC. If we do the same non aggressive poo on offense with a new coordinator though, Ron can gtfo.

Sorry but 3 losses to the Saints in one season is a failure anyway you look at it.

The Falcons game sums this season up for me. No one gives a poo. Playing practice squad pos WRs instead of trying to bring in a Vet who actually knows some fuging routes. The ATL game would have been a good run through for a new WR before playoffs started. Playing Amini and watching him get destroyed while Moton sits on the sideline. Does he just suck? Amini isn’t the future.

I am just ready to hopefully have an owner who gives a poo about this team and not the NFL

Not really.

But I also would say it’s possible we over achieved given our severe lack of weapons at the WR position.

Agreed. I would not call it a success and I think we can beat the majority of the teams in the playoffs, for that matter. We did likely overachieve, however. Especially given our obvious roster holes. I would even say this is easily a candidate for the weakest playoff team we have ever fielded.

Honestly it depends on how we lose. If the offense comes out guns blazing, surpassing its limitations and taking it to the final minutes then I will say they met expectations.

But really we should at least be in the divisional or NFC championship game.

Losing Samuel and Byrd is devastating. I really they are the pieces that are missing. We could run the table with those guys in the line up.

My definition of success has always been a home playoff game. It's why I bought PSLs among other reasons. But if we make a run to the NFC championship i will love that too. Making the playoffs is the only thing NFL teams are shooting for because once you are in anything can happen.

This season is not a failure. But it may not be a success.

    • I’m old enough to remember when I wanted to draft Njoku We brought back Mitchell and officially kept Tremble. Mitchell Evans isn’t going anywhere. Sanders who knows, he was awful last year I fully agree we need a better TE. This room is awful Njoku would be a massive help in the red zone. However it really seems like Dan and the FO prefer to go young on offense
    • You’re underselling Loveland imo. He’s so damn good. You can line him out wide and count on him to win 1 v 1. I don’t see that from Sadiq. Loveland is going to go over 1000 yards next season I’m not overly asking for a WR3. It’s just one of the few directions Morgan could go in round 1.  Let’s say Thieneman, Fano and Cooper are all on the board it’s a tough decision. I just don’t see how this team would take Sadiq over some of those guys given the way they run their offense. Our tight end room is easily bottom of the league so I can definitely see why someone would want a tight end though. At one point during the season I was on the Sadiq train as well. I just don’t think value wise for us specifically it makes sense given our team as a whole As far as tight ends go in this draft I really like Max Klare. Very smooth mover
    • Some of you need some serious help with the way 9 lives rent free in your heads I know for a fact, Dan loves Bryce. Bryce is his guy. This offense is very young and they’re asking Bryce to do a lot. With Idzik taking over playcalling duties it’s a move that is another step in the process of Bryce taking control of the offense. 24 years old. This youth movement on offense and putting more on 9’s shoulders is going to pay off in the long run
