NFL.com Daniel Jeremiah's mock draft 1.0

Do not want Ridley. He's a decent enough prospect, but he seems to me like one of those good college receivers who can't hang with NFL defenses. I keep hearing how he has All-Pro potential, but all I see is another Laquon Treadwell, Kevin White, or - at best - Jordan Matthews. In any event, I don't see a player worth a 1st round pick, but that's just my opinion.

I agree with those who said they'd rather get a starting WR in free agency or via trade than early in the draft. I'm not at all enamored with this year's crop of 1st/2nd round WR's. I'd much rather make a trade or spend a little on a free agent and then take a WR with one of our 3rd rounders. Honestly, there doesn't seem to be THAT much of a gap between the guys I'm seeing projected in the 1st/early 2nd round and the players being projected in the 3rd/4th rounds.

all I know is our scouts responsible for looking at WRs better be working double time. Hopefully we can get one of the top WRs in the draft but if not we need to be able to find a gem in the mid to late rounds that everyone else over looked. Lets get us another steve smith. someone over looked but is a feisty mean little baller that doesnt back down and is tough as poo

We're not picking a S in round 1....get it out of your head and act like you know Panthers football.

DE/WR is more desirable anyway.

Numerous times over the years it's been reported that we've had safeties highly rated on our board and the draft just didn't fall right. Hell, it's been reported that we LOVED Mark Barron and he would've been our pick if he was there (over Luke). Sure dodged a bullet on that one.

There is always guys projected in the second and third round this time of the year then after the combine and pro workouts the talking heads start talking and all of sudden you got 4 or 5 guys going in the 1st that are not on the list today.

Just gonna have to wait and see how everything shakes out but I think we are in a good spot for someone to slide down and get a great player. I don’t think a wr we want will be there I see us going either offensive line or TE to be honest, or if a top safety slides . we are losing a top notch guard and turners offense needs road graders for the run game. It will be interesting what we do in free agency

Are there any Alabama fans to chime in on Ridley? He had good production and honestly not great QB play, so that's a plus. Does he have jump ball skills and is he aggressive attacking the ball? Is he a good route runner and not just a run after the catch guy? If he can be an immediate starter on the outside and give us 700+ yards then he'd be worth a first rounder for sure because we are sorely missing another outside guy who can stay healthy.
