Wow he had 5 seconds to get rid of the ball, really couldn't blame him or the oline for that. Look at Brady and Rodgers the ball is way out of their hand before then. I bet if you look at that play further out you would see our receivers not getting separation or getting open. That's a terrible video to go by imo!

You realize that video is in slow motion, right?

I would like to say that surely you can’t be this dumb, but history clearly indicates otherwise.

BREAKING: Coach names player who has played LG in NFL as front runner for position over player who has never played LG in NFL.

Guys, why don't we wait until after training camp to freak out about who's playing what position?

I don’t know if it’s the coach speak that has everyone freaking out. What concerns me is that it seems to be Rivera gives a whole lot of leeway to the players he decides are front runners. They get the most reps and the most opportunity to shine.

In one sense, it’s logical that Amini should be deemed first on the depth chart right now. He does have the most experience. But in another, shouldn’t his experience work against him? I mean how much more footage do we need to see of him whiffing or getting tossed aside for Ron to say, “We feel good about our options at left guard. And we'll see how things shake out in camp.”

At this point Silatolu is the front runner and should be. He is the most experienced and obviously based on film and what the coaches  know, he did the best and one of the other guys needs to beat him. If they do then they will start instead. All these overreactions in May are frankly funny. Rivera is a good judge of talent and those who say otherwise are the ones without a clue.

I love to sit on this message board and read the perspective of all you fat fuging keyboard GMs. Get back to work. Nobody is trying to sabotage the Carolina Panthers. The best dudes will play. They are paid to win games. They want to win games.

It is apparent many of you have never coached.

This is something coaches do, I've done it.  I played a guy with the ones for a week, and let him get his ass kicked to prove to him that he was not that good.  You have to give the guy who has actually played and started in the league first shot at it, first.  Do I think Amini is good or average? No, he is awful.

But this is probably more about motivating the other LG canidates.  You do not want Moton thinking he has "earned" that spot yet.  Cause he hasn't, no one has.  It is going to be an all out battle for that spot in training camp.

I could be severely wrong, and I am aware of Rivera's loyalty to players, but we know he isn't stupid.  Still, I  get it, Amini is trash.  Should be 3rd string emergency back up.

really hoping this is true

Nothing to see here.

If course Silotolu is the “frontrunner”....he was the backup for the position last year and whose competition will be a guy (Moton) who has never started and will be changing positions and a few UDFA.....andcwe have not gotten into training camp.

I expect someone other than Silitolu to win the job in competition in TC, but this is totally expected before OTA’s.

Calm down and don’t over react....yet.

relax its early , once we get going im sure they will make changes

Exactly. Silitolu is the vet guard on the team, and the only one (other than Turner of course) that played guard last season as a Panther. He should be considered the front runner before even 1 OTA drill has been run. We have at least 1 tackle, 2 centers and a guy from Minnesota that are better before UDFA's were brought in.  If RR expected Silatolu to start, he wouldn't have loaded the roster with other guards.

I know, but I really don't understand why so many seem to get a charge from complaining and hating everything this organization does and everyone associated with it.  I follow the Panthers because I get genuine enjoyment out of football and love the allegiance I feel towards the team...even though it does get frustrating sometimes.  But I just cannot wrap my head around people that seemingly hate everything about the team, and feel the need to make sure everyone thinks and feels the same.

To me, the Panthers are a positive in my life, and I just wish those that thrive on negativity would find something they can actually enjoy rather than try and ruin the experience for the rest of us.

Some people will never be happy, you could have the hottest woman(or man) in the world handing them $1m while butt naked and would still complain.

me personally it could be the ugliest person in the world and I’d still take the $1m haha

This is the garbage that is going to get him fired. Dude is still in 2012.

I’m outraged too, can’t believe a dude would say that there was an open competition at a position that we need to fill on the Oline!!!!!!

This came up before. C will typically help out LG more than RG. I played football through high school, but never got coached to that level of finesse so I’m speaking more on what I’ve read. I think it likely has more to do with the blindside, so the C can help and allow the LG to help the LT more. The QB can see the right side guys more easily so you want to ensure the left side has less mess ups.

Even as bad as Matt Kalil got beat, he had enough that Cam could have gotten away except that Amini was on his ass and there was no place to step up.

When Amini came in for Turner, that happened a lot. He sucked balls and if he starts, we are screwed. He’ll be bad, make Ryan have to help him more and he’ll never be there for Matt like Norwell was so he’ll make three positions look worse. FM.

And is why he shouldn't even be on the team. He's bad and why waste time on bad.
