Norv ~ Shula?

I think it's a valid point and something we will never learn for sure.  To say the offensive weapons are vastly improved from last year is an understatement. I man even looking at our offense with Ted Ginn and without Ted Ginn shows a huge difference.  Factor in the minus Kelvin "Krispy Kreme" Benjamin there is a huge improvement as seen near the end  of last year.   Just the difference in CMC, last year he was not breaking "any" arm tackles.  This year he is breaking damn near all of them.  Not to mention the subtraction of Kalil..sheesh.

If anything Norv brings confidence that he know's what he is doing.  That is huge in itself.  But if everyone is honest, the offense doesn't look hugely different.  Maybe more bootleg action.  Lots of shorter passes.  Cam isn't getting the ball out any quicker. Just more willing to take the short passes.  The team speed is night and day from last year.  So could we have been successful with Shula still at the helm?  Maybe.  But sometimes a different voice is necessary and Norv has the capital to back up his words.

Depends on what you are looking at. Scheme is similar, talent is much improved. Cam is much improved and the specific adjustments to each team is much improved.  Overall we are much better off this year versus the past. I will leave it to others to cast blame or credit where they want

What if Cams hurt shoulder and inability to throw the ball deep has made him a better QB by forcing him to want to go to the quicker developing short routes, get the ball out faster, more consistently gain yardage and get sacked much less often?

I don’t know if I’m buying my own dumb theory yet but I’m thinking about it.

    • Well, they're both in the same league (if you will). During preseason, Fitz went 3/3 & Sauls went 5/6, but of course Sauls was 4/4 last night (including one 50+). Both were Lou Groza Award finalists. I believe Fitz made two 55+ yarders last season, while Sauls led the nation with three. Fitz was 13/13 (💯) while Sauls was 21/24 (87.5). Fitz was a 3rd-Team AP All-American, while Sauls was a PFF All-American.  Career-wise, Fitz was 58/74 (78.4), while Sauls was 52/64 (81.3). I wish that I could see the attempts and knew the depth of yardage. I wish that we could compare practice kicks during their training camps, but we can't. Maybe someone with a PFF/CFF account can give that Basically it's just a matter of belief I guess. Seeing dude knock down four FGs and go perfect during a pressure-filled game for him is damned impressive if you ask me. I don't believe that Fitzgerald could do that.  That being said, I'd have to know more. I will say that it may be worth mentioning that we seem to like PFF this year and Sauls being a PFF All-American may be notable. Now that being said, the Panthers may not be even considering Sauls.
    • Ive said it 1000x times on here.  Our 2025 season will be dictated by the first 4 games.  poo the bed there and lose all confidence and momentum, we win 5 games maybe.  Go 2-2, 3-1 we got a look at 7/8 wins
    • I basically made almost the exact predictions on a phone call with a buddy about 3 weeks ago. I really do expect Evero gone before the seasons end, Young to just not able to get over the hump enough and DC to head into next season on a VERY hot seat.
