Rivera/players postgame interviews

Rivera's defeatist attitude over his defense getting absolutely embarrassed on the road on the national stage is enough to leave him in Pittsburgh.

What is he supposed to say on camera though??... he knows, the coaches know, and the players know how awful that performance was.  Making a memorable sound byte might make the fans feel better and give the media something to talk about, but the only thing that is going to matter is what happens behind closed doors over the next 10 days and the product they put on the field in Detroit.

I remember John Fox's similar attitude after the Arizona playoff debacle, and it pissed me off to no end... but this is not the same thing at this point in the season...

If he is like that at this point behind closed doors, then yeah it's a problem... but he's still got to coach these guys, and blowing them up on camera at Week 10 for the benefit of the fans isn't the best course of action in my opinion

Can't put it all on the players. The coaches have to put them in a position to succeed. Clearly the Washington promotion is a decision that has blown up in our faces. That's entirely on Rivera. He called the shots. He takes the heat.

Moton showed he can Play LT

We can find a RT and heck we may be able to retain Williams cheap post injury

We lose Kalil the QB of the OL at Center this year.  We dont get a good replacement this OL will take 2 steps back.  Especially with our LG.  VanRoten has looked solid at times this year especially at run blocking but has really shown his flaws at times see tonight.

Edge rusher needs to be priority 1 followed by center

I want Moton back to LT and try Newhouse at RT and we need to pick up an upgrade to Van Roten.

Whatever happens, Rivera tends to keep his composure. His demeanor is usually calm, even after bad losses.

It does sound like this game got under his skin a little bit.

(and let's be real; it should have)

Yea he's a defensive HC who adds nothing to the defense or to the team other than what a coach just does normally as his job functions.

It takes some sort of crazy skill to get beat with big plays playing soft defense....

Running backwards fast as you can at the snap will do all that for ya.

I know I'm quoting my own post like a chode but what really drives home Rivera more than this.

"RETREAT THEY MAY GET THE FIRST RETREAT"

I think Rivera actually does just want his defense to retreat instead of attack. Meh even if I was a shitty coach I'd be a shitty coach getting fired with an attacking team.
