Recurring Panthers Dream

People of the board:

I am in no way curious to see what this could mean, but am on the mend from surgery with some pain aids..so let's get nuts.

I have now had 3 dreams where Cam is hosting a summer BBQ as the grill master.  A few parts:

  • He's cooking brats
  • We only have mustard and onions as the garnishes (someone asked about Ketchup, kraut, etc...got nothing else)
  • The buns are oversized
  • It keeps ending with his girl Kia yelling at me but I don't know what about
  • Fans leave the BBQ disappointed as if it's a loss at BoFa

For those who like interpreting dreams...I'm looking for creativity up in here.

As one who studied Freud in college, allow me:

  • He's cooking brats (this is not good.  brats are male phallic symbols full of fats that expand when they get hot.  You need to call a toll free number soon.  Let's move on)
  • We only have mustard and onions as the garnishes (someone asked about Ketchup, kraut, etc...got nothing else) Mustard is a creamy substance created from seed.  Again, not good.  Onion is layered orb hidden underground until mature.  "What are you trying to hide?" and "Why is mustard on your brat such an issue in a dream about Cam?"  Ketchup is missing because we cannot do that in games; Kraut is missing because it should be and there are no Germans in this dream.
  • The buns are oversized.  Oh boy, not good again.  Too easy.  Perhaps you should ask Santa for a treadmill?
  • It keeps ending with his girl Kia yelling at me but I don't know what about That is because Kia is South Korean.  It is a reference to a car, which suggests that your buns should go and find a proportionate brat.  You are not welcome at this cookout, Bearer of Large Buns, and you have been told to leave in a foreign language by a rather obvious metaphor.  While this Kia is claiming that while her trunk and her junk are rather substantial, they are still smaller than your stretch Limo trunk.  In other words, she was saying, "Get your big ass out of here and take your condiments with you"  in Korean, probably.
  • Fans leave the BBQ disappointed as if it's a loss at BoFa Of course they do.  There were others like you there, and they had to leave amidst being cursed out in Korean and leaving in a Soul with only full bottles of mustard, empty buns, and the disappointment of being that close to your (wet) dreams and watching them "walk by you like a stranger in a crowd." (Moonlight Graham, Field of Dreams).

Seriously, I hope your recovery goes well and you are off the opium soon.

Allow me to try.

The cookout is a metaphor for what should be a fun, relaxing weekend activity. Cam is "hosting" or "leading" this cookout, just as he leads the team during football season (what should be a fun, relaxing weekend activity). The lack of variety in condiments is a metaphor for the lack of variety in the team. We repeat the same two plans on offense (run the ball, hit CMC in the flat). We repeat the same two plans on defense (sell out to stop the run and get torched, sell out to stop the deep ball and get roasted underneath). The "buns being too big" is a metaphor for the leadership. Sure, everything fits inside the "bun" but it's covered and smothering and disproportionate to what's inside. This is Rivera, this is Hurney. They are necessary pieces of the cookout, but these particular pieces are smothering the goodness of what is inside the "bun". Kia is a metaphor for yourself. You're yelling at yourself just as you yell at the television/field on game days. You're confused. Why isn't this team working? Why is this happening? Everybody leaves the cookout disappointed, just as everybody leaves Panthers games for the back half of the season disappointed.

Or it means you need to come out of the closet.

    • Considering you previously struggled to understand BTT despite it being explained in a video, write-up, and multiple replies, I get why this might be a little too complex for you. Happy to clarify again! Just let me know which part tripped you up this time. 😉
    • And, honestly, there's only so much you can attempt to do in the draft. And every draft pick is a roll of the dice. But that's where grabbing a ton of UDFAs, and targeting the best, makes a big difference. Sure, their individual chances of getting a hit here is less, but that shotgun pattern might just hit something.  Right now, we need bulk, partly to rebuild and partly to dilute the deep level of stank that has developed on this team in the last six years. If we're going to rebuild a culture built around culture, accountability and winning, then these UDFAs we bring in each season have to be the wash water that gets out that leftover dirt.  Canales seems to be a smart, culture-first, build up the good ones kind of guy. I like that and I hope he can keep it going here. But he was working against a locker room that had been taught to lose and taught to distrust or ignore coaches. He's got his work cut out for him, still. He does seem to have it moving in the right direction and that's something I was pretty amazed with by the end of last season.
    • The most telling sign, IMO, of a team on the upward swing is who we lost in the off-season. Who left that even saw the field? Woods, Clowney, Sanders, & Hekker. OK...no big deal. Clowney is the only 1 that I raised an eyebrow over and I get that it was a money decision. No need to pay him over $7M to take snaps from our draft picks when he was just OK last year.
