Seven DB lock down

Good bit of attention paid to the Bolts using a 7 DB defense to shut down the Ravens.  Hard to think that you would use 7 small guys to stop running game but it worked.

Thinking it could work for us: Bradberry, Jackson, Cockrell, Reid, Gaulden, and 2 best pickups (draft or FA) from this offseason

Put them with our front seven and the 14 guys could have a better outcome than we did this year :eyeroll:

I’m not going to bash,... the scheme did work for the Bolts— and it also worked throwing Ingram and others in at defensive tackle which doesn’t get talked about.

you can’t  be stuck in the past— have to adjust to the future and to the versatility these current players have.

At the same time you have to adjust to your players strengths and what they can do best.

we don’t have 7 dbs, in fact we have like 1.5 and the rest are scrubs.

so to make that the “thing”, and it’s not an all the time thing— other teams you may go linebacker heavy instead— adjust to the situation— but what,.. we would have to draft 5 dbs that all work out pretty good....

so im not bashing the idea— I’m saying we suck and couldn’t do it. Ha

Speed kills. With the NFL evolving more and more toward wide open offenses I think the trend of LBs in general will be smaller and faster. The future of NFL defenses is probably fielding two safeties that are more of the FS variety and for the LBs to play more like in the box type SS. That's basically what TD is and it's what we thought we were getting in Shaq.

They had injuries to their LBrs and was as much as a next man up thing as it was a scheme thing, but it sure as hell worked.

Haha no.... they game planned that to stop Lamar from getting to the outside. The coach even mentioned it post game. They were not afraid of Lamar over the top.

if anything. It should be discussed that harbaugh didn’t adjust accordingly.

I am a Panthers fan, so I wouldn't know anything about coaches making adjustments. Are they allowed to?

No way in hell riverboat doesnt keep at least 2 linebackers on the field at all times. Adapting be damned.

Especially when they are Kuechly and Davis. Only an idiot would sit either of them in favor of more safeties or corners. Adapting is one thing, pulling 2 of your best defenders off the field is quite another.

    • I noticed Canales commented on King having a live arm. Weinke coached him and said he could make any throw an NFL team would ask him to make.  His mechanics and general process of throwing looks a little wonky to me though. Haven’t really zoomed in on that though to say more.     Brazzell, his hands look at least decent to me and of course his speed is there.   Love his balance.  Like a cat, always comes down on his feet. Not his butt.
    • If Veabel is the father the name, unfortunately…. well you are looking at Mike Jr.    I feel bad for the husband And the kid though. Especially the kid who had no hand in anything and is just a victim.   Most people would develop some pretty big issues around the chaos of finding out nothing you were told about your father was true and you have been calling the wrong guy Dad.  And trusting your mother, well that is over too.     She should be permanently burned as a reporter or rumor reporter. Whatever she I was.    Who can trust anything she says?   Vrabel has outed himself as a total phony. No credibility whatsoever.
    • My worry is about his concussion. Concussions.  Last thing we need is for him to  be like Jewel. I am looking forward to him benefiting from better players around him in the defense.  Defending QBs under a little more pressure than the last few years.  Better coverage defense in front of him in the middle.
