Are we willing to pay 35 million per year for Cam?

Cam, even healthy, for 35m a year?

he isn't the best qb in the league, isn't top 3 or top 5 and arguably in top 30% but pay him the most of any QB ever? lol fug no what is wrong with you people

He's a good QB and worth a decent contract but comparing him to Rothlisburger, Brees, Brady, P Manning, Wilson (who also aren't worth that)  shows a lack of football intelligence

just because Wilson got paid 32 mil doesn't mean it'll work out but if Wilson is worth 32, Cam is worth BELOW that not above it

I wouldn't pay Cam that much unless he has a great season in 2019. Doesn't need to be 2015 MVP level but it needs to be good enough for us to make some sort of playoff push. Since 2015 he's had 2 so-so seasons and one decent one.

Whatever the status of his injury, the truth of the matter is since the 2015 season we've won a grand total of ZERO playoff games. That is 3 seasons in a row with no progress whatsoever and that unnaceptable no matter who is at fault.

If we finish 2019 and don't win at least 1 playoff game, I wouldn't blame Tepper for blowing up everything and starting from scratch.

None of them are worth that much money. This cap thing hasnt gotten completely ridiculous.

Technically they are worth what the market says they're worth but I agree these prices (in regards to the total cap) are redonk.

No, pretty sure this is the make or break year for Cam and RR.

after 3 straight seasons of no playoff wins after a SB appearance and dissapointing the owner with a 7-9 dumpster fire his first year with the team, I have to agree.

Tepper will probably create his own regime from scratch if we have another losing season this year. I bet all the coaches and players know that.

This is how the circle will complete itself. Teams with average lower paid QBs with running games/defense will have a more complete team and beat the teams with 50 million dollar QBs with nothing else on the team to compete with teams who can actually field a competent team at most other positions.

QBs $$ value will decrease then it'll happen all over again.

This is the one argument where I agree with those clamoring for a QB in this draft. It would give that QB 2 years to develop in case we cannot sign Cam to an extension due to the asking price with the injury concerns. I would still wait until next draft or at the earliest the 3rd round comp pick. If we waited until next year we could always Franchise tag him to give extra development time. Also if he balls out and stays healthy, then absolutely you try to re-sign him.

    • Well there goes the bullied victim spiel.
    • Not sure who said it first, but Tepper is the correct answer. Still, I'm gonna go with Kasay keeping it inbounds. If, you subscribe to the butterfly effect version of time travel consequences.... When we win SBXXXVIII everybody's lives change: Moose never breaks his leg, We win it all again in 05. Tommy Jone is unknown and Peppers stays home, Champs once more 2008. No artificial pig heart turning JR into a creepy weirdo, no lockout, no Clausen. Fox and Jake ride off into the sunset on their own terms. No 2-14, no #1 pick. But, no laptop, no Blinn, 3 years behind The Golden Calf of Bristol, we still get Cam. JR let's him grow his locs like he always wanted, Smitty sees Cam in a new light. Dreads swinging, (and Smitty with his 3 Lombardis behind him) Cam is old enough to get those calls. No Manning narrative, Cotchery TD, PI against Talib on Philly Brown, 10,000 RTP calls and Kony Ealy SB50 MVP. No Jeans Fridays, no Tepper. KB doesn't slip on his own meatsweat mid-route in SD, Cam becomes the 1st QB to win 10 straight SBs. Retiring after being elected 47th president of the US of A, Cam ushers in the Permanent Proletarian Revolution across the globe, Xi Jinping bows in awe. "ẄøŘƙƐṛ§ őF ŧĤə ŵØRłð, ŮŊÏŦƐ!!!"
